Turn Into Something Lyrics
Oh twisted me I came to eat
At the hall where we danced to some duds
My crowd of pals observed my fingers
And prayed for the lunch I had hung
And cheers rolled out and I thought early
Of tunas in tennisons tubs
But you'll turn into something
You should turn into something
Oh blissful bleed I came out peeking
And leaked out like a wet clown
My tears rolled down and arms went round
At night I gaped at the gowns
So often green but she held me
My curtains were covered in hounds
She said
Oh that sweet goodness
Wish you could be here every time
But don't miss me goodness
Because I rub away every time
Then groan at the goodness
But do you mean not every time
Then gone in the goodness
Wish I could stay here every time
A mistful meet with teachers speaking
They're muffled by buzzes and hums
So headphone tones do float me home
My chair was begging to come
And I'm not bummed some works not fun
Then we crawl in the carpet like bugs
But you'll turn into something
You should turn into something
Unrestful eve I sipped on leaks
And sat in the room had a grudge
The jumping dust made catfish bust
From corners now dripping with mud
And she knocked twice and we got silly
And no one knew what would come
She said
Oh that sweet goodness
Wish you could be here every time
But don't miss me goodness
Because I rub away every time
Then groan at the goodness
But do you mean not every time
Then gone in the goodness
Wish I could stay here every time
But you'll turn into something
You should turn into something

An adolescent, going thru changes - twisted insied ... you'll turn into something He takes his girlfriend's virginity - oh BLISSful BLEED i CAME out peaking & LEAKED out on prom night, or school dance - DANCED to some duds... GOWN his first time too, cuddling in afterglow - so often GREEN but she held me
or maybe they just fingerbanged, & presented his pals the blood on his fingers? (And the cheers rolled out) [i HOPE not!] Or the bleed is blissful because she's not preggers... phew! She wishes he could stay every time because they're still in school, living with their parents, who frown on teenagers f**king. & dont miss me, I Rub away... has to be, don't miss me, when we're apart lets think of each other & ..touch.. ourselves.
Turn into something... ACs songs are chock full of transmorgifications. Even the words turn into other words the more you listen! I'd say transformation, perception, naturalism/tribalism & anti-materialism are their big 4 themes... can anyone think of a 5th, its a better nunmber?
Or maybe my interpretation is wrong and.. will something completely different?
Animal Collective has the magical ability to make me dance in silly ways whenever i listen to the songs of wholely goodness.
I'm getting a total cycle-of-life feeling from this song in a slightly older time. The first verse makes me picture friends gathered together at a dance hall discussing things of the time and the main character taking a girl home and getting her pregnant. The second verse seems clear in that its talking about child birth with the wet clown/cloud coming out to women in green gowns and being put in the nursery in a crib with curtains that have dogs on them. The next verse makes me think of a child with problems with homework, teachers, and overall teenage dissatisfaction. The last verse makes me think of a young man having to deal with providing for himself and dealing with the real world, until this girl knocks and they get "silly" and wait for the fruit of their relations to "turn into something."
i had no idea what this meant before reading your explanation, but it really makes sense now.

I think that AC allows a little abstract-ness in their lyrics. You can obviously spend a day analyzing meaning, but often a song writer will just piece together lines from old lyrics, poems, journals, etc., until a complete set of lyrics is had. Ultimately it just has to sound pretty, and AC always does. Some newer lyrics are much more relatable, and more interpretations may abound, which I think is kind of the point of art. In this case, I like to isolate the chorus line and derive the meaning of the entire song from the lovely lyric "we should turn into something." I really try to turn into something every time I hear that song.
Well said, I always try to turn into something when I listen to the song too.

The lyrics seem pretty correct to me, upon hearing the song it's pretty difficult to distinguish so bravo LiefErikson! :)
great work leif. i see u also dig another band i'm rather fond of. double points.
A wet clown. How queer.
well i think it might be "wet cloud" that would be less queer. and also make more sense. i like this song though the chorus is really pretty. as for the meaning, your guess is as good as mine. i have no idea what it means. maybe it's about the start of a new relationship (that should turn into something)?

The end of this song is so pretty
