Control Lyrics

So we begin to fall apart
And I guess that's all right
When there's not much left to lose
But I took it straight to heart
When I asked her for the truth
And she couldn't say the words

I should've known
It's better just to end it
Than to let it go
At least he listens any stress you can unload
That will drag you under
It's better to have control

So I took a little trip
And I got into a fight
But it's only, I'm sure
And I called her up in Reno
And she's busy every time
I don't call there anymore

I should've known
It's better just to end it
Than to let it go
At least he listens any stress you can unload
That will drag you under
It's better to have control

What can hold me safe
What can overstrain
So long
That every incidence
Anything we sow is great
I know

I should've known
It's better just to end it
Than to let it go
At least he listens any stress you can unload
That will drag you under
It's better to have control

I should've known
I should've known
I should've known
It's better to have control

Cover art for Control lyrics by Gavin DeGraw

I am a little confused about the meaning of this song. I would guess that it's about a relationship ending. It's better to have control over a situation and end it, then just to ignore the signs of a failing relationship.
