Trestles Lyrics

On the trestles, over the james
No pictures just memories, they stick the same
Walking tracks through, December rain
Hands were froze, knees were stiff
But damn sure worth the pain
Four trains since passed now
I felt them shake
I laid my head against the ties and over me they raged
Then i saw heaven and i saw hell
And i wanted to visit both
It's alright cause it's our night
I saw heaven and I saw hell
And I wanted to visit both, and i think i did
Stuck out that weather with those bone cut chills
The warmth we brought was enough
To make us feel at home
And we shared our fire
Crossed the lines and threw rocks sky high
And it was alright

fuckin awesome song. personally i think it's about when someone comes at a cross roads, or at a difficult part of their lives finding the strength to carry on, even with the weight of the world on your shoulders.

The literal image from this song is hanging out on a bridge over the James River. I get the image of the train scene from "Stand by Me" from the song.
