Sarah (2st Version) Lyrics
Captains hair
Shone softly in the sun
Rode on his best mare
To Sarah
Schoolboy eyes
Would stare in innocent fun
Never told no lies
He loved Sarah
Whispered by bramble
Carried by brook
To every fishers hook
Sarah
Fragrant fields
Playing croquet in the sun
Nothing appeals
Like Sarah
Whispered by bramble
Carried by brook
To every fishers hook
Sarah
Shone softly in the sun
Rode on his best mare
To Sarah
Would stare in innocent fun
Never told no lies
He loved Sarah
Carried by brook
To every fishers hook
Sarah
Playing croquet in the sun
Nothing appeals
Like Sarah
Carried by brook
To every fishers hook
Sarah

This truly a great wonderful short song, great piano and guitar playing!
To me, it's like the boy who love the girl (Sarah) means everything to him, and she fills up his thoughts to the max, and it feels like he's very proud of loving her. ("Rode on his best mare")
Simply a great lovesong! :)
I didn't realise there was more than one version of Sarah, I thought the other one was the only one by Thin Lizzy.
I'm glad I found this out though, a great song.

Long live Thin Lizzy led by the warrior Philo ... This song is BTW about Phil's grandmother Sarah who took care of him for a while when he was young due to life difficulties his mother Philomena faced . The feeling made by the instruments arrangement gives an idea or two about Phil's intention to create a dedicating , innocent atmosphere .
This song is about Phil Lynott's Daughter Sarah mostly written by Gary Moore. Just watch the video as Phil sings to his Daughter Sarah. The first Sarah song is about Phil"s Grandmother
