Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy) Lyrics
DUM-DE-DE-DUM, DE-DE-DUM-DE-DE-DUM, DE-DAA-DAAAAA
DUM-DE-DE-DUM, DE-DE-DUM-DE-DE-DUM, DE-DAA-DAA-DAA-DAA-DAAAA!
Well, I walk into the room
Passing out hundred dollar bills
And it kills and it thrills like the horns on my Silverado grill
And I buy the bar a double round of crown
And everybody's getting down
An' this town ain't never gonna be the same.
Cause I saddle up my horse
and I ride into the city
I make a lot of noise
Cause the girls
They are so pretty
Riding up and down Broadway
on my old stud Leroy
And the girls say
Save a horse, ride a cowboy.
Everybody says
Save a horse, Ride a cowboy
Well I don't give a dang about nothing
I'm singing and Bling- Blanging
While the girls are drinking
Long necks down!
And I wouldn't trade ol' Leroy
or my Chevrolet for your Escalade
Or your freak parade
I'm the only John Wayne left in this town
And I saddle up my horse
and I ride into the city
I make a lot of noise
Cause the girls
They are so pretty
Riding up and down Broadway
on my old stud Leroy
And the girls say
Save a horse, ride a cowboy.
Everybody says
Save a horse, Ride a cowboy
[Spoken:]
I'm a thourough-bred
that's what she said
in the back of my truck bed
As I was gettin' buzzed on suds
Out on some back country road.
We where flying high
Fining, whine, having ourselves a big and rich time
And I was going, just about as far as she'd let me go.
But her evaluation
of my cowboy reputation
Had me begging for salvation
all night long
So I took her out giggin frogs
Introduced her to my old bird dog
And sang her every Wilie Nelson song I could think of
And we made love
And I saddled up my horse
and I ride into the city
I make a lot of noise
Cause the girls
They are so pretty
Riding up and down Broadway
on my old stud Leroy
And the girls say
Save a horse, ride a cowboy.
Everybody says
Save a horse, Ride a cowboy
What? What?

This is my girlfriends favorite song, but what do I think about it, I think it is about gay cowboys that are in the closet, or in denial. They sing
And the girl’s say Save a horse ride a cowboy Everybody says Save a horse ride a cowboy
Ok, what does this mean? They already specify that all the girls say “Save a horse ride a cowboy” so why would they need “Everybody says”? This means that the guys say it too. Later on in the chorus it says “riding up and down Broadway” (which tends to be glamorous, not something a manly souther man would admit too) “riding up and down Broadway on my old stud Leroy”(Here Leroy is the name of his gay partner, which is commonly mistaken for his horse, as he “rides”, has sex with, in the hotels near the Broadway street.
Other parts that are not in the chorus also give it away. In the last line right before the first chorus, they say “this town will never be the same”, after he buys everyone in the bar a drink. This means that he is getting everyone drunk to lessen the affect after he comes out of the closet which he is thinking about, which will have the whole town talking(making it not the same).
In the next group right after the first chorus, he states that he doesn’t care about the girls, who are drinking, and that he wouldn’t trade his gay lover (Leroy) or is cars, or his freak parade (the part about the freak parade is where I think he is in denial, calling gays freaks, and gays have had marches, or “parades”) and goes further into denial with saying he is the only straight person, John Wayne is considered to be manly (he is retaliating saying everyone else is)
In the final group of lyrics, these are spoken, and he states that he is drunk, and is trying to go as far as he can with the woman. He is still in denial, as he needs to get drunk and is just trying to prove he isn’t gay. But, she sees that his cowboy reputation, isn’t real, and that he likes men, so he wants salvation from her so she doesn’t tell, and he ends up closing the deal with only singing her songs from Willie Nelson.
Well, he's making alot of noise, because the girls are so pretty? That's not gay?

Know what, this is most definitely not an "in denial" song. Actually, I think it's the exact opposite. It's just a fun song wih not much depth to it, just chill out and enjoy it for what it is :)
yeah I think the same. from what I know, save a horse ride a cowboy is like save a drum bang a drummer. You know you want to ride the cowboy more than you want to ride the horse. And the drummer is cuter than the drum. At least that's what I hear. It jsut sounds like a fun song. Loved the dance routine that those two did on Dancing with the Stars to this song.
This song is soooooooo NOT about GAY COWBOYS.....OMGah......if you were to read their BIO u would know the Big Kenny's FIRST horse was named LEROY!!!!! OMGah u are sooooooo stupid
Sarah90 - that was a pretty harsh comment! bloody hell! in these comments your meant to write about what you think about the song and how you interpret it. so maybe dustbunny27 thinks it's about gay cowboys, good for her, at least she's looking at it from a slightly different perspective, not seeing everything as black and white. she (or he) is not stupid in any sense, they are just posting their opinion. you have every right to disagree with that and say that you disagree with that but you have no right to tell someone they are stupid for the way they interpret a song. that in itself is ignorant and stupid!
and btw, not everyone reads the bands profiles before they post a comment. :)
and also, i love this song :D
Don't you all see? It's about the ethical treatment of animals. If you read an equine anatiomy books, you would see that the horse was not really ment to carry people. This song is a pleed for people to stop using horses as convinces, and for the people who ride them to take a step back and think about how it would feel for them to be ridden like a stupid beast...
ROTFLMAO, sheesh I'm even laughin at my self right now. OK my point is that...ah screw it I have not point, I just like messin with people
i looove this songs its the shit n what the fuck is with the comment bout them bein gay.. haha
A great song, I think it's just about having a good time and nothing more.
All around great song with catchy lines. NOT about them being gay.
its a good drinking song
