Here I stand so patiently
For your lights to shine on me
For your song inside of me
This we bring to you
In the shadow of love
Time goes by leaving me helpless
Just to reach and try
To live my life
These are my reasons, so
here we stand so patiently
For your song inside of me
For your lights to shine on me
This we bring to you
One, One, in a million
For your lights to shine on me
For your song inside of me
This we bring to you
Time goes by leaving me helpless
Just to reach and try
To live my life
These are my reasons, so
For your song inside of me
For your lights to shine on me
This we bring to you
One, One, in a million

i think this is the first song steve perry wrote. it is about him waiting to get into Journey. I LOVE STEVE! and i dont think they were ever not cool... i dont exactly see how they could have not been. idiots dont know what good music is when they come across it. truely timeless.
Using some information from Wikipedia, which states: "Perry wrote the lyrics, in which he expresses the sadness of being on the road and away from home, while also expressing admiration for the band's fans, and Schon wrote the music for the song." Pairing this with my own intuition and inferring, I can assume it's for Steven's mother (may she rest well), as he must have missed her greatly when away from home, as she was the one who encouraged him to join the band in the first place; come on - "This song we bring you"? Yup. And now, if Steven were to sing it once again, he probably wouldn't be able to handle it. Somebody, if you get to meet him, hug him for me, and give him my regards. Seriously, the man needs a hug!
Everything the previous poster said and more. Awesome, haunting song. Flawless band. I miss the real Steve. :(
