I've Got You and You've Got Me (Song of Contentment) Lyrics

I wanted it so bad
Making all the props
Sitting on my swing
Giving all I've got
But when they dim the lights
Forgetting my stage fright
I find that little smile
Cause I've got you and you've got me
I've got you and you've got me

I light his cigarette
Acting with regret
Saying all my lines
Pretending things are fine
But when the curtains close
Everybody knows
I climb into the space
Where I've got you and you've got me
I've got you and you've got me

What happens when I say
This may be the last beautiful day?

I'm dancing in my sleep
With promises I'll keep
Feeling so complete
Cause I've got you and you've got me
I've got you and you've got me

I've got you and you've got me
I've got you and you've got me
I've got you and you've got me
I've got you and you've got me
I've got you and you've got me
I've got you and you've got me
I've got you and you've got me
(Everybody knows, everybody knows) I've got you and you've got me
(Everybody knows, everybody knows) I've got you and you've got me
(Everybody knows) I've got you and you've got me

I think this song is so pretty and I find it bizarre that it is in what I believe is a toothpaste commercial? My favorite part is "I'm dancing in my sleep with promises I'll keep, feeling so complete 'cause I've got you and you've got me"

Yeah I heard it too on a commercial! That was pretty strange. Crest! I heard it while laying down so I didn't know if the song was coming from the tv or my computer. Weird. Haha.

Anyway, this song is really nice. Pretty self explanatory, I think. About two people in a relationship, perhaps they just got together? She sings that she's content to be with her partner.

The first two stanzas are talking about her performance on stage. So I guess it's directly about Sally and her life with her husband?

Or if you really want to be general, it can be about one person that's extremely content he or she is in a relationship with someone he or she loves.

i don't get the line 'what happens when i say this may be the last beautiful day.' also, i think it's in everybody's best interest to see her live, absolutely beautiful. lastly, the version2 of this song on her ep is ten times better in my opinion
