This song is feckin ace, you cannot call youself a music fan until you listen to this.
He does a very beautiful live version on the G3 96 album, and on the end of it he makes these guitar noises.. like the singing of killer whales, man that part really touches me every time.. there's something so powerful about it.
Beautiful song. As for the meaning of the line at the end? I haven't a clue.
If you watch the video, you'd see that the song's about all the horrible things the human race has wrongly done to deserve God's love.
However, in the video, the end line is changed to "We may be human, but we are still animals."
Really, the meaning is the same. Not matter how hard we try to better ourselves with actions and beliefs, we are still animals. And no matter how hard we try to believe or disbelieve in a higher power, we always walk the line and run in circles.
