No One Would Riot for Less Lyrics
Well death may come invisible
Or in a holy wall of fire
In the breath between the markers
On some black I-80 mile
From the madness of the governments
To the vengeance of the sea
Well everything is eclipsed
By the shape of destiny
So love me now, hell is coming
Yeah kiss my mouth, hell is here
Little soldier, little insect
You know war it has no heart
It will kill you in the sunshine
Or happily in the dark
Where kindness is a card game
Or a bent up cigarette
In the trenches, in the hard rain
With a bullet and a bet
He says help me out, hell is coming
But could you do it now? hell is here
See the sterile soil pours in the sky
Yellow water final scraps of light
Bring a new tear
So wake, baby, wake
But leave that blanket round you
There's nothing as safe
I'm leaving this place
There is nothing I'm planning to take
Just you, just you
Or in a holy wall of fire
In the breath between the markers
On some black I-80 mile
To the vengeance of the sea
Well everything is eclipsed
By the shape of destiny
Yeah kiss my mouth, hell is here
You know war it has no heart
It will kill you in the sunshine
Or happily in the dark
Or a bent up cigarette
In the trenches, in the hard rain
With a bullet and a bet
But could you do it now? hell is here
Yellow water final scraps of light
Bring a new tear
But leave that blanket round you
There's nothing as safe
I'm leaving this place
There is nothing I'm planning to take
Just you, just you

i hear this song and i just chills. can you imagine being these two people, with the apocalypse at your back and youre just trying to hold on to the last thing that you love.
scares the hell out of me.
brilliant.
Saw him play this at the Orpheum in Omaha...Absolutly amazing....
Does anyone have a better recording of this than just the one from that radio show?
theres a good version on youtube
beautiful. there is nothing else to describe it.
I kind of like the messed up radio version…I think it has a George Orwell 1984 feel to it that goes well with the song…as for the song - one of my many favorite Bright Eyes songs…I gave up trying to choose a single song as my favorite a long time ago..
It's up on the saddle creek site for free for those who want to download it.
This song describes exactly how I felt the last couple of weeks of 2006 and the first couple of 2007, this guy is so amazing it almost scares me.
This is haunting. It incites highly romanticized apocalyptic visions. I agree with the person who mentioned that it has a "1984 feel" to it. I can't stop listening.
I am anticipating the new album.. This song is so amazing : Conor is so amazing.
