Irony of Dying on Your Birthday Lyrics
Just know
We are
A spec
In time.
So follow your bliss
And destroy the beauty
I'll lock myself alone in a room
Drink until the clock strikes noon
With just a pen, a pill, and some paper
And maybe I will write a sad song
Or another cliche poem
Of the person that I long to be
I wanna die like Jim Morrison
A fucking rock star
I wanna die like God on the cover of time.
Just a blink and it's gone
So baby pour some fame in my glass.
So kill the forest
And destroy the beauty.
I'll lock myself alone in a room
Drink until the clock strikes noon
With just a pen, a pill, and some paper
And maybe I will write a sad song
Or another cliche poem
Of the person that I long to be
(Colors blind)
the eyes
(Sounds deafen)
the ear
(Flavors numb)
the taste
(Thoughts weaken)
the mind
I'll attack someone with a switchblade knife
So that I can see their pain
I choose to be a serial killer
'Cause the victims don't get any fame.
I'll lock myself alone in a room
Drink until the clock strikes noon
With just a pen, a pill, and some paper
And maybe I will write a sad song
Or another cliche poem
Of the person that I long to be
Just know we are a spec in time
[Chorus in the background]
We are
A spec
In time.
And destroy the beauty

With just a pen, a pill, and some paper

this song is so great. it gets my so hyper its very random i love random!
i think this song is about how life goes so fast and to make what you can out of it before its your time to die its also about fame and how to get your name out so ppl dont forget you when you die
It's about just how fleeting fame is and how hard Buddy struggled to become famous. Then I think he compares all the trouble he went through to the relatively small effort that a serial killer puts in for infamy. He makes a very good point, If someone asked me to name 3 serial killers I'd instantly think of Ted Bundy, Charlie Manson and Aileen Wuornos, asked to name 3 victims of these serial killers the best I could do is say: Roman Polanski's wife. I think he also suggests that he has comtemplated mass homicide for fame in the lines: "Maybe I will write a sad song, or another clichè poem, of the person that I long to be" and "I choose to be a serial killer 'cause the victims don't get any fame."
@Enthused_punk You take it takes a relatie small effort to be a serial killer? wow, if you wanna be one you would probably suck. Most serial killers put alot of thought/skill in planning, targeting, circumstances, ....

@PyroBillie I wrote this comment when I was 15 years old, haha. But yeh, compared to trying to become a famous rock star like Jim Morrison, it's definitely a lot easier to become a famous serial killer. There's a lot less competition, you just have to completely lose any respect for human life. Mass murder is even easier, because you only have to plan for that brief encounter, rather than continually avoiding capture.

"I wanna die like Jim Morrison A fucking rock star I wanna die like God on the cover of time." very awesome lyric
also if you ddidn't tell my name orginated from the "Just know wee are a spec in time
Holy Crap! Buddy screams his bloody ass off in this song. And it's awesome!
Yeah, this song is without a doubt about the fleeting glory of fame. I think he may be making a statement about people who really get fame without deserving it. Or possibly he's just singing about what every rock star does to get fame (Drugs, clichés, and whatnot). I think he's saying "I'll get fame in a different way, and I really want to be there even if it won't last".
"I wanna die like Jim Morrison A fucking rock star I wanna die like God on the cover of time. Just a blink and it's gone So baby pour some fame in my glass."
My favorite part out of any Senses Fail song. Especially "I wanna die like God on the cover of Time."
