Cornerstone Of Misery Lyrics

Well once again…
We set sail toward the sky (The Sky with wings of lead)
From frozen cliffs with wings of lead (We Find Ourselves)
And we find ourselves once more (back where we began)
The cornerstone of misery…

I am ready to breathe again
If I had a million last words to tell you

These words are the end of the solitude
Which held fast for so long inside this cold shell of a human being

They could never be adequate
They could never hold true
So I’m left dreaming of angels
Weaving a symphony (In blue skies)
I Dream of angels (these are the dreams you inspire)
Weaving a symphony in blue skies
Well once again
Well once again

We set sail toward the sky (The Sky with wings of lead)
From frozen cliffs with wings of lead (We Find Ourselves)
And we find ourselves once more (back where we began)
The cornerstone of misery…

Those torn wings which grounded me for so long
Have been given new life
So now I can fly with you as we cry for joy while staring at the sun
Nothing can be as bright as this today
No star can shine so beautifully tonight

We Find Ourselves…
Back where we began…
We Find Ourselves…
Back where we began…
We Find Ourselves…

Well once again…
We set sail toward the sky (The Sky with wings of lead)
From frozen cliffs with wings of lead (We Find Ourselves)
And we find ourselves once more (back where we began)
The cornerstone of misery…
The Sky with wings of lead
We Find Ourselves

I'm not sure what the meaning is to this song, but I love The Amity Affliction and they're my favourite band. They're from Australia and you should really give them a listen. www.myspace.com/theamityvilleaffliction

i agree, everyone go listen to them cuz they fucking rock. they're from my town, gympie aka hickville. pretty much the best thing to come out of there since well ever. I like the sleepless winter more but ican't work out the lyrics except for the chorus.

this song for me shows just how good of a writer joel is.. his lyrics make sense, but when you try writing that way for your own music it turns out nothing like his, he is a great writer. i saw amity affliction live a while ago,it was the first time id heard of them(they were supporting behind crimson eyes) and i thought they had quite a good live set.even though the new album doesnt have the raw appeal im usually into i still love them. these guys are a band to watch.,

I agree with emo_angel. I'd rather earlier stuff like sleepless winter than this, There live show has improved heaps though, at underoath it was so fucking great, but at shows before that i never really got into it. haha, but amity are doing so well now.

It's pretty amazing that he can tell a whole story with such a short song, I'm not sure if joel or ahren or whoever does the writing, but Amity have the best lyrics I've ever heard. Maybe I've got an old version of the song or something but mine has some extra lyrics, helps it make sense a bit more, not that its hard lol. To me it's fairly simple, the frozen cliffs and the wings of lead, he starts out sad, then he talks about a lover or partner or whoever or whatever, and he's happy. But eventually he ends up back the cliff, right where he started. Love can leave us and it will. Sometimes no matter how hard we try or how much we want something we end up right back where we started. And it happens over and over again. The cornerstone of misery. pretty rad stuff

"Well once again, we set sail toward the sky, From frozen cliffs with wings of lead and we find ourselves, We find ourselves once more, back where we began, The cornerstone of misery...

I am ready to breathe again. If I had a million last words to tell you; These words are the of the solitude which held fast, For so long inside this cold shell of a human being, They could never be adequate, They could never hold true.

So I'm left dreaming of angels, Weaving a symphony in blue skies. Dreaming of angels that slowly turn to stars. Weaving a symphony in blue skies.

Well once again... Well once again we set sail toward the sky, (Scream with wings of lead) From frozen cliffs with wings of lead, And we find ourselves once more, back where we began, The cornerstone of misery...

We'll slowly drift randomly, For so long I've been giving new life, So now I can fly with you and cry with joy while staring at the sun. Nothing can be as bright as this today. No star can shine so beautifully tonight.

We. Find. Ourselves! Back. Where. We begun! (x2) We. Find. Ourselves!..

Well once again we set sail toward the sky, (Scream with wings of lead) From frozen cliffs with wings of lead, And we find ourselves once more, back where we began, The cornerstone of misery...

Scream with wings of lead. We find ourselves..."
