The Lights and Buzz Lyrics
I'm coming home from my hardest year
I'm making plans not to make plans while I'm here
And this life has been no holiday
A complicated situation
I'm fine with all my memories
So I could use vacation
It's christmas in California
And it's hard to ignore that it feels like summer all the time
But I'll take a west coast winter to remove my splinters
It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive
I'm coming hope to lights and buzz
Streets look the same
Still nothing's as it was
And this place is paradise, I'm sure
Here's my reservation
I've got lost here once before
Inside a good vibration
It's christmas in California
And it's hard to ignore that it feels like summer all the time
But I'll take a west coast winter to remove my splinters
It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive
And time
Its said it stops for no one
The seasons come and go and that's just time
Outside it stops for no one
The seasons keep on going
Whether or not we're blind
Christmas in California
And it's hard to ignore that it feels like summer all the time
But I'll take a west coast winter to remove my splinters
It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive
I'm making plans not to make plans while I'm here
And this life has been no holiday
A complicated situation
I'm fine with all my memories
So I could use vacation
And it's hard to ignore that it feels like summer all the time
But I'll take a west coast winter to remove my splinters
It's good to be alive
Streets look the same
Still nothing's as it was
And this place is paradise, I'm sure
Here's my reservation
I've got lost here once before
Inside a good vibration
And it's hard to ignore that it feels like summer all the time
But I'll take a west coast winter to remove my splinters
It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive
Its said it stops for no one
The seasons come and go and that's just time
Outside it stops for no one
The seasons keep on going
Whether or not we're blind
And it's hard to ignore that it feels like summer all the time
But I'll take a west coast winter to remove my splinters
It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive

I feel like shit but this song reminds me that I have my health, and my family and friends. I should appreciate the hand I've been given and be happy. It convinces me that it is infact 'good to be alive' when I seem to forget.
first comment! well this is the first song andrew recorded after going into remission from luekemia, so I think the meaning is pretty obvious (although so many songs on everything in transit foreshadow illness, it's weird).
I think this song is truly amazing. The piano in the beginning is beautiful, as are his lyrics. "It's good to be alive" Lyrics dont get much more powerful than that.
If you are a Jack's Mannequin fan and haven't yet heard this song, I STRONGLY suggest you listen to it.
amazing
"Christmas in California And it's hard to ignore that it feels like summer all the time"
So true. I almost thought it was summer yesterday.
But this song is simply amazing, just like "Everything in Transit"
I think this one is a Christmas/ Remission song for Andrew. The lyrics are really good and It's good to be alive is an INSPIRATION! Sincerly Jack's Mannequin fan, Marie-Eve
This song is amazing musically and lyrically. Just incredible and very personal. Read his blog at jacksmannequin.com
"It's good to be alive."
awww i love him. he's my motivation to keep going.
andrew is my hero....and i guess we'll never know why there are so many reasons he foreshadows illness on everything in transit...kind of weird. i hope all his new songs for JM have this sound...like a depressing coming home theme oppisite everything in transit which was summer themed and happier
this is an awesome song.... even tho it's about Andrew's cancer remission, it's written in such a way that it can be applied to many different situations
This is an amazing song, to me this is Andrew expressing just how grateful he is for everything he has and everything he can do, the fact that he'd just gone into remission from leukemia. I love hte melodies in this, it's just a beautiful song, true to the rest of Jack's Mannequin's songs
