Elegy Lyrics

[Part I: Deception]

Death reigns over the earth
Opressing justice and truth
Nations plagued by despair
Are collapsing hopelessly into themselves
We watch while sanity dies
Forever lost upon the Earth
Countless souls embracing condemnation
One by one marching to the grave
Into the Mouth of the ruin that feeds upon the Damned and the Deceived
And they will cry there is no life here only death
Deceived
Wide is the path that leads to destruction
Wide is that pathway down into the pit of despair

[Part II: Lament]

(Instrumental)

[Part III: Triumph]

(Instrumental)

Deception. Lament. Triumph. Someone two millenia ago came into this world and saw the deception for what it is - a spiritual war. All these people who are on a highway to Hell and they know it, they're marching in the wrong direction and they feel it. One day so many of them will be condemned to a place of unimaginable terror, forever. As time has been pressing foreward it's gotten progressively worse, now at an epidemic rate. "We watch while sanity dies" and what do we feel for these people? What do we do for them? Lament and pray. On the cross Jesus prayed for them saying "Father forgive them, they know not what they do". Minutes later Jesus Christ was dead. Three days later He was alive. He triumphed over all the deception and wickedness and despair in this world for anyone who would believe Him. Sometime soon He's gonna come back and He's gonna judge this world for what it is. It can't go on this way forever. He fixes it eventually.

shadrack did you make that up yourself? Anyway this song is the best song on the album and one of the best songs ever, in my opinion.

Sounds a lot like the lead singer of Demon Hunter on the last 2 lines.

that is Ryan Clark. in his bio it says that he does guest vocals for some other bands like anberlin, falling up and becoming the archetype.

very eloquent shadrack, and I fully agree.

this song is perhaps, to me especially, one of the best ever metal songs to have ever been composed. there is nothing wrong in this song, it is flawless. as close to perfect as we mortals shall ever get, and how fitting that this song is nearly archetypal.

Oh man. This Song. It's so inspiring. I have a plan to do a human video to this. It would take a while, with lots of people, and I don't know if I can play thrash metal in church, but it wouls be soo awesome. Oh and before I read the comments, my thought was "EPIC". hehe. Oh one more thing, to Shadrack. When Part II arrives in the human video, I might use your interpretation in spoken word. Hope it's okay. Maybe God spoke that to you for a reason.

This song is perfect metal. The lyrics are scary but only to those that don't have Christ in their lives.

WrathofGod, your comment/assumption was right. Ryan Clark(the lead singer of Demon Hunter) does do guest vocals in this song.
