Marching with Six Lyrics

woke up late on that sunday morning.
woke up late yeah the sun was burning.
slides and chutes spilling explanations. slides and chutes offer alibis.

where the freeways mate and the flies congregate
there's a needle hungry for a place to sleep
where the jumpers meet in the film cloud eyes
with the doctors notes and them heavy heads we'll cry

lay my face back in the sleep finds me lazy
a fears friendly fed when you're free to be resting
birds in the sky and the rain won't soon
call in
gravel laced sunsets foaming in my belly

evident was the flood
frame it up frame it up now frame it!
evident I was told
frame it up frame it up now frame it!
a wonder it was worn
frame it up frame it up now frame it!
evident I was told.
frame it up frame it up now frame it!

Ohhh my baby's gonna take your breath away
ohhh my baby's gonna burn your soul
Ohhh my baby's gonna take your breath away
ohhh my baby's gonna burn your soul

evident was the flood
frame it up frame it up now frame it!
evident I was told
frame it up frame it up now frame it!
a wonder it was worn
frame it up frame it up now frame it!
evident I was told.
frame it up frame it up now frame it!

Maybe, skipped out on becoming religious and slid into a drug addiction. Now his head is in the clouds but his body is slipping into death or something of the sort... Not sure. I think it's about a drug addict trying to make the best of the worst (gravel-laced sunsets foaming in my belly?).

Nic Newshams vocals in this are awesome and fit so well, can't wait for the new GAD album. As for the song, I think it's about contemplating and maybe actually going through with suicide after become addicted to a drug. I thought "gravel-laced sunsets foaming in my belly" was a great line, him jumping and the concrete/gravel is the end, the sunset. But he's only contemplating it hence the foaming in my belly, maybe he's worried but still wants to end his life. Anyway, one of my favourite songs, especially because of Nic's vocals.

i think its about the realization of the shit he got himself into by becoming a user and the warning signs of drug addiction. "evident was the flood. evident i was told"- he should have seen it coming

i cant remember if it was marching with 6 or elephant but one of the 2 i asked John Gourley about and he said it was about communism...i noticed alot of people on this site believe most the songs are about drugs. yeah i see were ur coming from, but the man him self told me otherwise so you may need to look at the song differently.

well "woke up late on that sunday morning" usually people party on friday and saturday and i know when i used to party and do drugs i would wake up very late on sundays... then "theres a needle hungry for a place to sleep" kinda obvious.. and gravel laced sunsets foaming in my belly.. usually when you go to the hospital and they think you've overdosed on something, they use charcoal gravel, and i can see why he said "sunsets" cause he was probably pretty fucked up at the time haha
