When it's sunny it rains and when it rains, it pours
I can't remember what I came here for
But when I see the look that's in your eyes
I found my tongue and it's life-on-line
We're all so sex-obssessed but we're so straight and clean
I just wanna stay in and watch TV
Watching people do what I'm too scared to try
I steal the lines with life-on-line

And it's my secret life in the bus lane
It's much easier just to complain
Making life much harder than it has to be

I've been working overtime
I've been busy telling lies
A few home truths never break the ice
Don't you trust me?

When I get stinned my dear your time will come
I'll be the best boy to ever treat you wrong
I'll give you reels and reels, how I'm confused and flawed
But baby baby I just got bored
And I'll unload my soul, my fear is tright and true
You hang on words I only wish I knew
We'll fill our minds with bitter ready-made
Just trying to rattle someone else's cage

And it's my secret life in the bus lane
It's much easier just to complain
Making life much harder than it has to be

I've been working overtime
I've been busy telling lies
A few home truths never break the ice
Don't you trust me?

I've been working overtime
I've been busy telling lies
A few home truths never break the ice
Don't you trust me?

I've got a plan and it's going well
I might go to top, you can never tell
A few home truths send me straight to Hell
Don't you trust me?

It COULD be about an affair, but I'm going to say that's what he wants you to think, and that it's really about being in the closet. I'm in the closet, and these lyrics are eerie. To make my case, consider this:

Morrissey is Preston's hero. Preston even goes by his last name alone, just like Morrissey.

The male camaraderie found in other songs ("girls come and go but what about friends").

The word "boys" in the band name, a song name, and more than one song's lyrics.

The band's logo, that thing you're meant to think is a flower. Have a closer look. What else could it be?

Not to mention the fact that Preston is just too charismatic to be straight.

What the fuck nobjock? The symbol is the logo of the B-Unique record label. It's on the Kaiser Chiefs album for gods sake. This band are the best SKA band for years. Though I think they did spoil their image a bit going on Big Brother. You seem rather homophobic. Seaside is their best song though. Actually I'm listening to In Awe Of The Awful at the moment.

Also they are the best band ever to come out of Worthing.

Me, homophobic? You missed a detail in my first post.

This song is about Preston and his compulsive lies. He actually does tell many lies over and over. I hate the ordinary boys though they suck completely. Preston is a tit and trys to sound like Paul Weller, he's just a goon and only sells recors because he went on BB and girls think hes hot. O and erm this song has nothing to do with being homersexual.... Preston is straight and marrying that dumb bint Chantell.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
