Searchlights Lyrics

It's like a breath before the dive.
It's like the truth after a lie.
This flight is taking over. Searchlights in every corner.
Like I love you when you're gone.
Escaping in the dawn.
I swear we'll flood your city. No choice, it's what you're getting.

If you want to breathe will you just let me know.
If you want it, then you'll see it. Let me know.
Wash away the tears. Will you just let me know?
Need to see it, then you'll want it. Let me know.

The secrets in the wind.
The rumors now begin.
You want to hear the silence. You want the quiet sirens.
His blood is like the break.
The love you will not take.
I swear we'll flood your city. No choice, it's what you're getting

No one can breathe, no one can see.
They are asleep, they will be seen.

Asleep.
Breakaway the voice is calling.
Wake up, you're asleep and falling.
Not too late to open up your heart.
He will heal the shattered hopes.
And fly away the broken souls.
It's not too late to find out who you are.

(Psalm 34:8)

I can try to explain what this song means piece by piece - sorry if I'm wrong! :] (I'm just continuing what swft24 was saying.)

It's like a breath before the dive: It's like realizing your mistakes, and diving into the great ocean of God's faith.

It's like the truth after a lie: It's like God telling you the truth and showing you what you did wrong after the Devil lied to you.

This flight is taking over. Searchlights in every corner. The search through your soul is taking over - God is finding sin after sin through the Light of Him.

Like I love you when you're gone. Escaping in the dawn. Like how God still loves you when you're gone - when you're escaping from him in the dawn.

I swear we'll flood your city. No choice, it's what you're getting. God will flood your earthly city filled with materials you have valued more than God. No choice - it's what you're getting (unless you repent).

If you want to breathe will you just let me know. If you want to breathe in God's life, just let Him know.

If you want it, then you'll see it. Let me know. If you want Him and if you let Him know, you will see the Grace of God.

Wash away the tears will you just let me know. If you ask God to wash away your tears and hold your hand, just let Him know.

Need to see it, then you'll want it. Let me know. If you need to see proof let God know - just like Thomas the doubter. Then you'll want Him.

The secrets in the wind. The secrets to heaven are in the wind (God). God is often compared to the wind. :]

The rumors now begin. The rumors about how to get into heaven (Falling Up is probably just going off the "the secrets in the wind" line).

You want to hear the silence. You want the quiet sirens. You want to hear the silence - you want God to stop - you love your sinful ways too much. And for the second part... hmm. Maybe you want the quiet sirens (like the mythology siren) to entice you even more into your sinful ways.

His blood is like the break. His blood is like your "big break" to your Faith in God and your ticket Heaven.

The love you will not take. You are refusing His love and chance for forgiveness.

I swear we'll flood your city. No choice, it's what you're getting. Same as above.

No one can breathe, no one can see. Everyone is blind to the truth - no one is breathing in Jesus' life.

They are asleep, they will be seen. They are all asleep to the truth and will be seen by God.

Asleep. Breakaway the voice is calling. Breakaway from your sinful lives - Jesus is calling.

Wake up, you're asleep and falling. You are falling and will eventually kill yourself by being asleep and ignorant to God's word without repenting.

Not too late to open up your heart. It's not too late to accept Jesus into your heart and life. But when you are done falling your chance is up. Judgement has come.

He will heal the shattered hopes. He will forgive you and heal all shattered hopes so you can start anew.

And fly away the broken souls. I think this is what it means... He will fly away the broken souls who have been Judged and sent to Hell.

It's not too late to find out who you are. It's not too late to find out if you are a son of God, or a follower of Satan.

Well, I really hope that I helped some people understand this song - and maybe also become closer to God.

But for now,

Helena Rose.

I think this is about someone who is just constantly running away from God. God's searchlights are out and He is looking for him. The guy doesn't wanna hear it, he "wants to hear the silence." If he wants to be free and breath, all he has to do is let God know. If he opens up his heart he can wake up, and be healed spiritually.

I completely agree with swft24.

But to me this song holds a closer meaning. Last Monday a friend and coworker of mine was in a head on collision with a SUV. Doctors said they were shocked to see that he was still alive. It's been well over 48 hours, and though he is on life support he is still going strong.

He's seventeen and a junior in high school. There are so many kids from our high school that go and visit him everyday and keep praying for him, actually to be completely honest with you I've never seen high school kids act this mature towards a situation.

So, I don't exactly know where I'm going with all of this, I just know that this song just reminds me of random times in the past week. With the rumors, and sirens, and how I love Dan even though I don't see him in the halls or at Kroger any more.

I think you all are right.

I would just like to throw out a new thought on the line "He will heal the shattered hopes. And fly away the broken souls."

I think he is talking about how God is our refuge. The referance is Psalm 34:8 "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him." Which means flee to Him for protection. But then verse 7 says that the angel of the Lord surrounds those who fear him and provides protection. How can we take refuge if we are already being protected? "Refuge" can also be translated to "Trust" So in a nut shell: those who fear the Lord are protected by the Lord and that we should trust in His protection.

Sorry about this being so long. I couldn't think of a good way to sum it up.
