i think this song is just about the band saying that they're different to everyone else:
"God bless music press because they made you believe the strokes are the best"
Also they are saying that even if they did get massively famous and everyone has things that represent Help she can't swim, they would still be more stylish/different/edgy.
Seems like a song to just big themselves up, and why not when you're this awesome? love it!
