You fell in love with a girl called Jennifer. So for want of something better to do/ in declaration of your love you got her name tattooed onto your arm. People warned you that it was all too hasty but you were so determined that she was THE ONE that you didn't listen to them.
Then one day you woke up and realised that it was all a big mistake and it had never actually been love. So you broke up but you still have the tattoo as a reminder. And it's never going away.
Oh and p.s. you're fickle.
Apart from a great eighties style tune the lyrics reflect well the story of love and heartbreak. The feeling of joy and uphoria that the early phases of falling in love bring. The belief that you will be together; it is for life and nothing can go wrong - the marriage and then the realism. Great song.
