Nothing's Wrong? Lyrics

There's nothing wrong
With what you do and what you say
There's nothing wrong
Pure will will get you through

Why can't you see you're in my way
Your ways are killing you
Why can't you see you're in my way
Your ways are killing you

Do what thou wilt
Shall be the whole of the law
Do what thou wilt
All they understand is the claw

Why can't you see you're in my way?
Your ways are killing you
Why can't you see you're in my way?
Your ways are killing me
Killing me (Killing me)
Killing you (Killing you)
Killing me (Killing you)

So go fuck yourself anyway

Keep this hunger
Keep this hunger

There's nothing wrong
With how I live my life today
There's nothing wrong
So go fuck yourself anyway

Why can't you see you're in my way? (Why can't you see you're in my way?)
Why can't you see you're in my way? (Why can't you see you're in my way?)

The song deals with Aleister Crowley and his Thelma Law "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law." In other words, you are your own God, and as long as you don't hurt anyone else, you can do whatever you desire. However, this it very misleading, because although on the outside it seems this philosophy is peaceful, it actually promotes self destructive behavior and justification for immorality with no consequences for immoral acts. Crowley himself was an avid drug user and sexual pervert. He was also completely Anti-Christian, which I feel many a music artist uses to justify their Anti-Christian messages of rebellion and self-gratification (Black Sabbath, David Bowie, The Beatles and many others).

Basically, Devildriver is saying, there is nothing wrong with doing what you want or saying what you want. Put a vent to your soul, for better or worse, however this philosophy only leads to strife and degeneration. There is a difference between recognizing ones faults and growing through a life of bettering oneself, and embracing ones immorality and glorifying it by calling it liberty.

What I get from the lyric "Your ways are killing you", is that to Devildriver, putting yourself second, not giving into your impulses or living solely for yourself, is not living at all. When Dez says "There is nothing wrong, with how I live my life TODAY", he means in today's society, it is okay to live anyway you please within the bounds of the law. However, there is a difference between what is JUST and what is TRUE. There is a difference between what is RIGHT and what is GOOD.

I think this song is about someone with a differnt view than yours.

"There’s nothing wrong With what you do and what you say There’s nothing wrong Pure will will get you through" I think he's saying the other person has good intentions.

"Why can’t you see you’re in my way? Your ways are killing you" In this part he's saying your ideas are blocking me from going on,and eventually thay will block you from growing

"Do what thou wilt Shall be the whole of the law Do what thou wilt" this just means do what you want and it will be your law or philosophy

"All they understand is the claw" Most people understand things that have inflected pain on them, like touching a hot stove, you know to never do that again.

"There’s nothing wrong With how I live my life today There’s nothing wrong So go fuck yourself anyway" Again saying there's nothing wrong with your intentions but their not for me so go fuck yourself

At least thats what i hear when I listen to this song.

the song is basicly saying that your philosopy on life is not wrong, but it's not the one for me,and dont try to push your beliefes on me "So go fuck yourself anyway".Just because i'm not living to your standard doesent mean theres anything wrong with me.If you cant stop trying to make me you, you'll just kill us both

yea i agree, i also its just about living your life how you damn will please

plus, "Do what thou wilt Shall be the whole of the law" which is was quoted by Aleister Crowley. just as a cool side note. Rock on DEZ!!!
