Welcome to Jamrock Lyrics
Out in the streets, they call it murder
Welcome to Jamrock, camp where the thugs dem camp at
Two pound ah weed inna the van back
It inna your hand bag, your knapsack, it inna your backpack
The smell ah give your girlfriend contact
Some bois nah know dis,
dem come around like tourist
On the beach with a few club sodas, bedtime stories,
and pose like dem name Chuck Norris
And dey don't know the real hardcore
'Cause Sandals ah got a back too
them thugs dem do wha dem got do
and dey won't think twice to shot you
Don't make dem spot you,
unless you carry guns a lot too
A bare tuff ting come at you
When Trench Town man stop, laugh and block off traffic
Then dey wheel, pop off and dem a start clap it
With the pin filed down and it ah beat rapid
Police come inna jeep and dem a can't stop it
Some say imma playboy, ah playboy rabbit
Funny man ah get dropped like a bad habit
So nuh body pose tough if you don't have it
Rastafari stands alone
Welcome to Jamrock, welcome to Jamrock
Out in the streets, they call it murder
Welcome to Jam down,
poor people are dead at random
Political violence, can't done,
pure ghost and phantom
The youth dey get blind by stardom
Now the kings of kings ah call
Old man to Pickney,
so wave onna hand if you with me
To see the sufferation sick me
Dem suit no fit me,
to win election dem trick we
Then dem don't do nuttin' at all
Come on let's face it,
a ghetto education's basic
And most ah de youths them waste it
And when dem waste it,
that's when dey take the guns replace it
Then dem don't stand a chance at all
And that's why enough little youth have up some fat 'matic
With the extra magazine inna dem back pocket
And ah a bleach a night time inna some black jacket
All who nah lock Glocks, dey a lock rocket
Dey full you up ah current like ah shock socket
Dem a run ah road block when all the cops clocked it
And from now till a mornin' none a stop block it
If dey run outta rounds, ah broke back ratchet

guys look this song is pretty much tellin everyone that jamaica isnt the peace full sands and blunt smoken everyone makes it out to be . he tellin ppl thats theres a war ragaing on within the cities of jamacia he gives examples to the strife by refering to the west east coast gangs of america and cornwall and middle sex being insanely poor and riddled with drug wars and ect. hes warnen ya and also warnen the young ones of jamaica the real jamacia to stay away from this way of life and comite to education see he isnt just spillin out hate full rhymes hes merely trying to keep the peace with his music but makeing it more blunt on wats going on. got on really good moive thatll show you just how bad it is over the.. City Of God, its a pian to read the subtitles but it gets the message across just like this song
Idiot. That movie is Brazil. And I wish you guys would get the real words. So many are wrong here.

They're the 3 counties of Jamaica
dont take offense in him saying funnyman in reference to homosexuals. this song wasnt ment to bring social awareness and give us a little insight into the violence and poverty on the streets of Jamaica. It also brings awareness to the mistreament of homosexuals with those lyrics, he didnt mean it to be offensive!
"Funnyman", a rough Jamaican equivalent of "faggot" in America, is on the original pressings of the album, and is removed on subsequent releases. Live, he often replaces it with Babylonian. I feel that when he originally wrote it, he was using the term to bring awareness to the situation in Jamaica. I know he didn't have a lot of time with his father, but I am certain that his older brothers passed on Bob's idea of loving everyone to Junior Gong. I'd guess that the reason it was removed was because recently, a lot of Jamaican dancehall singers started getting a lot of heat for their hateful lyrics (Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Sizzla, among others). He probably realized the magnitude of what could happen if he, the son of Bob Marley, was thought to hate gay people. I mean, he even has Bounty Killer as a guest on this album (Khaki Suit). Regardless, this song is brilliant. It helps to show the true Jamaica. It's like Bob's earlier works, albeit in much more direct terms, even though most people don't listen hard enough to understand the lyrics.
so hard hitting... open your eyes he's saying..
I like the way he manages to say all this but still give out the vibe that he's just a regular guy witnessing this happen around him, a narrator. good song.
love love love this song
lyrics are flawed i think... first verse i dont think it says funnyman anywhere but not sure one of my all time favourite songs : ) dont really get it --- all dem 'dem and dens' really throw me
i dont think he says funnyman either but in the line that says funnyman i am pretty sure he is talking about how gays are discrimnated against
at the end of the song it says "cornwall, middlesex and surrey y'all "
are theses palces in jamaica? i know theyre english too
He DEFINITELY doesn't say "funnyman". Listen to the song. Read the lyrics in the liner notes. Somebody pulled that out of their ass.
