From Debris Lyrics
your feet upon the snow dear
i knew you could not believe it
there was no time to put shoes on
you were woken to alarms ring
you barely left your blankets
to see your neighbors house on fire
they were standing right beside it
it's difficult believing
when you can't tell what you're seeing.
from debris you and me could start something
from backseats behind the trees won't know one thing
from debris, you and me…
your feet upon the road dear
run between the houses
your arms were filled with water
without the hesitation
to know what your were doing
i think people can be perfect
when they do not think about it
i think people can be perfect
from debris you and me could start something
from backseats behind the trees we'll know thing
from debris you and me
staring at nothing
for hours and hours
run from the evening
run with the water
from debris, you and me...
you're not above it...
you're not below it...
i knew you could not believe it
there was no time to put shoes on
you were woken to alarms ring
you barely left your blankets
to see your neighbors house on fire
it's difficult believing
when you can't tell what you're seeing.
from backseats behind the trees won't know one thing
from debris, you and me…
run between the houses
your arms were filled with water
without the hesitation
to know what your were doing
i think people can be perfect
when they do not think about it
i think people can be perfect
from backseats behind the trees we'll know thing
from debris you and me
staring at nothing
for hours and hours
run from the evening
run with the water
from debris, you and me...
you're not below it...

I am in love with Matt Pond PA!
I think this song could be about how people don't always realize that things could be one way until something huge happens. The debris of the neighbor's fire leads to them realizing that they should start a new life too.
I think this song is brilliant... it doesnt matter what it means...what matters about it is how it makes you feel... and this song deff. makes one feeel...its fucking brilliant.
its about more than just the fact that they should start a new life - he's saying how they can build one, which is the most important part of the message. basically, he's saying that they could build something (presumably build a house) from the wreckage of a fire, taking the smallest broken pieces and making something big from them, which is such a beautiful and emotional sentiment.
Such a great song. I see it as most of you see it; building back up after a disaster. Being with the one you love and getting past even the very worst.
the phoenix rises from the ashes, from debris. a house can burn down, but home is...
"I think people can be perfect..." - what a wonderful thought; we do have our moments
"I think people can be perfect, when they do not think about it. I think people can be perfect."
