In the Fire Lyrics
“Confess… Witch“
I see the moon outside
With its evil grin
Watching the priest tonight
Accusing ME of sin
Oh, help me, “No, you're gonna die“
Oh, help me, “No, just say goodbye“
In the fire, on blackened wings I fly
In the fire, to Hell… and then I die…
Oh it's still the same
Can you tell me why?
Witches then are Witches today
“Confess… Witch“
A thousand years of pain
Between here and then
Did we all die in vain?
Oh it's just insane
Oh, help me, “No, you're gonna die“
Oh, help me, “No, just say goodbye“
In the fire, on blackened wings I fly
In the fire, to Hell… and then I die…
Oh it's still the same
Can you tell me why?
Witches then are Witches today
“Die Witch… Now go to Hell“
In the fire, on blackened wings I fly
In the fire, to Hell… and then I die…
Oh it's still the same
Can you tell me why?
Witches then are Witches today
With its evil grin
Watching the priest tonight
Accusing ME of sin
Oh, help me, “No, just say goodbye“
In the fire, to Hell… and then I die…
Oh it's still the same
Can you tell me why?
Witches then are Witches today
Between here and then
Did we all die in vain?
Oh it's just insane
Oh, help me, “No, just say goodbye“
In the fire, to Hell… and then I die…
Oh it's still the same
Can you tell me why?
Witches then are Witches today
In the fire, to Hell… and then I die…
Oh it's still the same
Can you tell me why?
Witches then are Witches today

Amazin song!
Could King Diamond be any cooler? The answer is clearly no.
It's got a theme of how the Salem Witch trials are happening anew today. Clever metaphorical use of witches, actually.
"In the fire, to Hell… and then I die… Oh it's still the same Can you tell me why? Witches then are Witches today"
People are still being burned at the stake, just in different ways.
well i like it maybe the witches are also metaphorical. king diamond songs often contain metaphores, i think everyone is being burned at the stake in one way or another, not just witches
dam.. that guitar solo between matt heafy and cory beaulieu is intense.. i enjoy it.... and dave chavarri is a kick ass drummer.. i love this song
I originally thought it was.. Can you tell me why? Which is then and which is today. Thanks alot for correcting me. I agree with the metaphorical aspect.
this song doesn't actually mean that much to me although it is frigen awesome but i have been trying to get some tabs for the lead at the start and after the second chorus if any one can find them can you please send them to distraught_anti_life@yahoo.com thanks.
Seems to be about being in trouble in life and thinking there is no light at the end of the tunnel
this man should be the singer of megadeth.. fuck mustaine.. if this guy did the vocals/lyrics for megadeth.. he could do the old mustaine stuff and make it better.. and he could do newer stuff and regain that edge.. but what can you do.. mustaine sucks.. hah, now that was random, childish and off topic
AHHHH this song is amazing! excpet for when he says "help me" with the high pitched voice...but still....um..lol i guess this song is about burning witches or something? lol irdk but i just had to coment on this song
