I'm Over You Lyrics
Tears in my eyes don't mean there's pain
Don't flatter yourself, I'm over you
You can't believe everything you read
Over my face... I'm over you
And I ain't been lookin' all that good
Someone told you I was takin' it rough
Why they makin' those stories up
When I'm over you?
You would've seen me broken down
But now I'm not... I'm over you
It only mean you lost the hope
You had on me... I'm over you
And I ain't been lookin' all that good
Someone told you I was takin' it rough
Why they makin' those stories up
When I'm over you?
And I ain't been lookin' all that good
Someone told you I was takin' it rough
Why they makin' those stories up
When I'm over you?
I'm over you
I'm over you
It's a song that George Jones could have sang. It's very similar to "She Thinks I Still Care". The narrator really isn't over the loss, though he's trying to make the woman believe he is. He's denying everything he's been doing to get rid of her memory. It's a classic country song.
Great song. He does a perfect job of communicating what he wants her to believe and what he's really feeling, which is the exact opposite. Like all good country songs, it's more emotionally complex than the outsider might realize and illustrates one of the dichotomies in a post break-up relationship.

Agreed with the other two bloggers! I'm Over You is a Hard/Art-Country classic because Keith Whitley will always be one of a kind. Clearly, the narrator laments the end of a relationship but the song clearly is an artwork of temptation and addiction to that vice named Demon Alcohol. That's why I'll always remember Keith. Alcohol was Whitley's only mistake-and clearly Keith is angry, chastened and sad. The thing to remember about Keith is that he lived his songs and that they're autobiographical-in pursuit of the truth! That's why I Love and miss him dearly. Keith Whitley will never be forgotten! I love this song!!
