it's bout living with the regret of not saying "I love you" to that certain someone, and then the someone leaving because of it.
Yeah, it's pretty self explanatory. He was too freaked when she said I love you to say anything back even though he felt it too. And that caused him grief of her leaving and he wishes he just could have said I love you back and all would be fine.
I think alot of guys go through this cause girls fall in love quickly and sometimes will say I love you and the guy is still just in the "love you but can't tell you" phase and this is like the regret they feel after
It's about freaking out b/c someone said they loved you, and then they leave you. Only then for you to find out that you love them too. You blew it b/c now you realize that you could of and should of said it back.

My interpretation of the song has always been that he regrets not saying 'I love you' back to the person on the phone because as someone else [[DisneyPrincess]] already said he was in the "love you but can't tell you" phase.
But form a very recent bitter experiance I'v had I'v seen it slightly differently. It could however be a person [[bit like 'lips of an angel' lol]] who calls whilst he is in some kind of relationship with someone telling him there feelings that they loved him and quickly hung up ..sorta feeling slightly embased as she did'nt think he'd feel the same as her e.g.
''You hung up and left me for dead on the ground You didn’t even say goodbye'' this i think happened because he wasnt quick enough to reply that he did as he was so shocked and had paused for a short amount of time. [[tragic really]]

Anyway this song means alot to me and i can relate to it myself as I personaly could'nt admit up to my feelings for someone even though I knew there feelings were exactly the same but i told myself they did'nt, but i relize deep down i knew and now all i ever do is regret it as I'm madly in love with them and its too late.
This is one of those songs that always make you think about what you didn't do or say... will always make you end up feeling sad but understood at the same time. This is the perfect song for me at the mo, combined with shoulda. Every person wants to love someone, its just hard to say how much you do love them at the time, and then you realise later what a mistake you made. I think Hinder must've been through a lot to be able to speak like this through their lyrics, they're a great band and i hope they keep it coming:)
this is a very personsl song to me as after i heard this song i found out somone had feelings me when i had them 4 them...it's literally jsut a song of regret and basically sayin "nothing ventured, nothing gained"
