I Dare You Lyrics
The characters in the show
One says yes, one says no
Decide - which voice in your head you can keep alive
Paint me your canvas so I become
What you could never be
Brand my soul and call me a liar
I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to
The memories in shadows
Some stay young, some grow old
Come alive, there are thoughts unclear
You can never hide
Paint me your canvas so I become
What you could never be
Brand my soul and call me a liar
I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to
Hello...
I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire
Brand my soul and call me a liar
I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to
Hello...
Hello...
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to
my first impression of this song is that maybe he is saying to God, "I dare you to test me" -
"One says yes, one says no Decide - which voice in your head you can keep alive" Angel/Devil - Who do you listen to? "I dare you, God, to see if I am faithful to You or not. "
I think it's about a relationship in which the person he's talking to is trying to steer him in a particular direction. He may not want to go that way, but the person has the best intentions. He's saying-- go ahead and tell me what you want me to do but that doesn't mean I'll actually do it.
Well this song could be about an athlete in any sport. The athlete is on the verge of the end of his or her carrer and younger athlete takes his or her place down in history. The younger antlete is cocky and say "Paint me your canvas so I become What you could never be" In other word i will go more far into this sport than you. "Some stay young, some grow old" is another clue. the older athete answer back to the young athlete by saying "I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire Brand my soul and call me a liar I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire I dare you to tell me I dare you to"
In other word i've been there before you and you just take my soul and follow my footsteps.
It actually could also be about a relationship ending in a bad way. The guy still love the girl in a twisted kind of way and can'T stand her seeing her with another man and see his ex going on with her life while him is still trapped in his childhood in the past. Both intepretation work.
wasn't this in some WWE compilation or the theme to some PPV?
It was for Wrestlemania 22

While I agree with the Angel/Devil idea, and even the bravery ones.. For me this song happens to remind me of something that has happened between me and my best friend, quite recently. Long story short, I warned her of something that I knew would happen, and when it finally did I believe she chose to believe people we both know aren't friends of ours. They made me out to be the bad guy to her, after I warned her the entire time. So I dare her to put me through all this bs, befriend enemies and then lie and say I didn't warn her they would tear us apart. "I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire wear my soul and call me a liar I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire" "Even in madness, I know you still believe Paint me your canvas so I become What you could never be" I think She somehow believes I'm the bad guy in this situation and I dare her to watch me overcome everything and be way less foolish than how shes acting. I can't wait to hear what she has to say, but I'm still hoping she'll agree with me and apologize for not heeding to what I said. So NOT organized, but idc!! :)
I generally think this song is his threat to somebody who dares to judge the narrator without walking in his shoes or seeing it from his side. It's as though he's daring the other person to live his life for a day before judging him. It's also as though he's trying to not be the other judgmental person.
I don't know if I would use the word 'threat', but you and I were thinking along the same lines.

You guys have it all wrong. He explained it once
It was about a guy everyone told him to join the fire academy so he did
It was a lot harder than he expected and didn't even make it a week.
He came back home and worked as hard as he could for one year and went back to the academy and finish first in his class.
That's what this song is about
Not drugs or girlfriends nothing like that.
@Megaman21 Who explained it once? Where did you hear about this? I'm very interested! :)

Could this song possibly be reflecting on his good thoughts and bad "conscience"; you know like the little angle and the devil that sit on opposite sides of your shoulders, "One says yes, one says no". This is just an idea. Get the ball rolling. Whats your input
It was the first thought I had, actually xD

I think it's a song from God's p.o.v. saying to us, "I dare you to test me". Saying "even in madness, I know you still believe..." I think it's based on God saying to us that we're not really supposed to test him, but if we do, we're stepping out of place. Matthew 4:7 says "Jesus answered him, It is also written: thou shalt not put the lord your god to the test." Where it says "Paint me your canvas so I become what you could never be" seems to say we all have our own opinions of what God...

Upon closer look, I actually agree with Dave.

I love this song
My take on it its about any relationship when its kind of the last straw. Saying "I dare you to.." and see what becomes of it
