I am the male version of Lillian, and I'm not embarrassed to say so either. Actually, I think that every person that has ever had to grow up, is Lillian.
It's about being at a point in your life where you don't know where you're going and it's terrifying. Everyone lives it and tries to escape it, but being on trial and feeling insignificant will happen to everyone at one point or another. I love this song so much, me and my boyfriend listened to it so many times last year. I love the line "at least you've got nothing that holds on"...

i think this song is about those times when you really feel like leaving it all behind and running away. maybe you won't actually ever do it, but just those times when things are so much that you want to escape, no questions asked.

for some reason, that part just grabs me. i think it's because when i'm somewhere foreign, i always feel like people are staring at me, watching me, knowing i'm not a from around there.
i think this song illustrates how alone lillian is. i like it though because she is brave, she is at least trying to escape, i think it takes guts to be able to go out on your own.
