I think this song is about love, and trying to find that person that you have been dreaming of. Its about your future husband or wife, and you telling them that you will always wait for them even if its forever. I think the verses describe what happens to you when you finally find that person. They keep you from drowning, then keep you from fading, they hold your hand when your crying, they rescue you.

I agree with anonamousfan729. I think she sings about waiting and wanting to see her soulmate, the person of her dreams. I love this song. It is the anthem to my life at the moment.
