All Sparks

It's a warning to someone who is a bit of a "bright spark". Someone who's a little too full of clever answers and opinions. He's telling them that their transcendence is very much a temporary thing, that they're going to be burnt out by life's long struggle just like everyone else. Fire is often linked with bright life and energy, but here the comparison is to a discarded cigarette cast onto the road; a tiny, doomed flame in a big, dark world.

I don't know the actual meaning of this song but what it makes me think of is this girl i used to love thinks her new boyfriend is gonna ask her to marry him which relates to the line "You're answering questions That have not yet been asked" and the "all sparks will burn out" bit is me thinking that she'll get bored of him so mariage isn't the best option. and the "Well be careful angel This life is just too hard All sparks will burn out in the end" bit seems to fit aswell cause i used to always call her angel.... it seems very unlikely this song was written about a similar situation though as i dunno what the other bits are about

Could it be about someone who goes around doing nasty things? Casting opinions etc and who's a bit big headed 'answering questions that havent been asked yet'. I duno, it sort of sounds like that. I still love the song

Could be about all life ending at some point. If you switch "All sparks" with "Everything". Maybe

It could be him talking about a relationship he was in and al the flaws with his girlfriend, then at the end of every line 'All sparks will burn out in the end' : he doesn't have to worry cos the relationship will eventually fall apart.

I'd never really thought about the meaning of this song before, but I sort of agree with JonR aswel. Awsome song.

When people smoke, the cigarette gives them a brief sense of enjoyment but eventually it burns out and you toss it. kinda like a relationship, its good for awhile but the "spark" dies and to have to end it and get a new one

Spark could be a metaphor for the nature of our existence, how short and fleeting it is, while a bouncing cigarette on the road stresses how fragile our lives are, in danger of being extinguished at any moment by passing cars.

No matter who you are or what you achieve, we all pass away in the end.

I aggre with Simon... It merely a metaphor for life/existence. No matter how brightly you shine, or how spectacular you are in this current life, whether it be around your friends or on a global scale (fame)... inevitabely you burn out and die....

The casting opinions at people who need them makes reference to the here and now ...

Things move and you're forgotten to some extent, quite a simplistic song lyrically but very profound when you ponder over it. I like his voice and the guitar in this track!

i think its basically about death - all sparks will burn out; everything dies in the end. nothing is forever, everything ends. morbid maybe but its true
