I Should Know Lyrics

I'll show you things that you've never seen
And I know places you've never been
To where the grass isn't green
Cause I, yeah, I should know
I should know
I should know

I'll show you things that you never seen
And I know places you've never been
To where the grass isn't green
Cause I, yeah, I should know

Playing away from home is fun
This food is cooked but it isn't done
Boy the best is to come
'Cause I, yeah, I should know

It's always me that gets the blame
Second single sounds the same
Loneliness is a pain
Cause I, yeah, I should know

I should know
I should know
The pain it grows
Yeah, I should know

I should know
I should know
I should know
I should know

I should know
I should know
The pain it grows
Yeah, I should know

Two steps forward and one step back
The wheels are coming off the track
Still there's time to get back
'Cause I, yeah, I should know

I should know
I should know
The pain it grows
Yeah, I should know

I should know
I should know
I should know

Waking up in someone's attic
Find it's all on automatic
Look out boy it's problematic
'Cause I, yeah, I should know

Waking up in someone's attic
Find it's all on automatic
Look out boy it's problematic
'Cause I, yeah, I should know

I should know
I should know
I should know
I should know

Cover art for I Should Know lyrics by Dirty Vegas

The song seems to me to be about a man [the singer] telling someone that the world isn't always such a nice place, for he has experienced it first hand. It's not a negative thing, he's just warning that running off from your world and what your world contains isn't the best idea.

or I could be completely wrong :]
