Sweet November Lyrics

I thought about it tonight, I'm lucky to be alive
I never thought these city lights would ever shine so bright
Floating on the surface, threatened to be dragged down
I thought I was lost forever, it turns out I'm alright

Sweetest November, winter wasn't here forever
Time to rest your weary head in the sun
Sweetest November, the world's renewed it's colour
Only just in time to welcome the summer

I thought about you tonight, I'm glad that you're alive
Even in these uncertain times, you'll make it through the night
You were floating on the surface, threatened to be dragged down
I thought you were gone forever, it turns out you've been found

Sweetest November, winter wasn't here forever
Time to rest your weary head in the sun
Sweetest November, the world's renewed it's splendour
Only just in time to welcome the summer

Captured in this light, beauty will survive
Purified by fire you have made it to the sea

Sweetest November, winter wasn't here forever
Time to rest your weary head in the sun
Sweetest November, the world's renewed it's colour
Only just in time to welcome the summer

this song is so so so gorgeous. it's so serene and harmonious, it makes me happy. I agree with 'scienceisgolden' (love the grates, by the way, hehe!).. now that i think of it, it sounds like somebody recovering from depression.

that guitar in the beginning pierces the heart.

but truly: i live in new york, so november doesn't welcome summer, therefore i just use november sort of as a metaphor for darkness, cause where i live the weather starts to get bitter around this time (nov)

So she's been having suicidal thoughts?

i think depression is a bit of a long shot but i think its kinda more like...hmm...finding where you belong? lol. thats more of a long shot.

I think she's realizing how much life means to her, and how much she's grateful for the life that she's been given, and for the people that surround her. Perhaps it was about getting over a depression, a mutual depression. Maybe a break-up, that they're both over now.

Most likely something bad happened in the wintertime, but now it's a new year, summer is coming, and they've realized that they have to move on and roll with the punches.

i agree with ohadelaide...considering the album is sposed to be about her marriage break-up i'd say thats more likly to be what its about although depression fits as well...i guess we'll never know!
