As with many other Sufjan Stevens songs, this one has to do with a story in the bible, in this case, the story of Jason. Jason lets 'runners' (refugees, Paul and Silas) stay at his house. His house was searched by 'knights' and he was forced to come before the ruler, but when neither Paul or Silas were found, he was released on bail.

Wow, I can't believe people would be so ignorant about Sufjan to think this was a homoerotic song AT ALL. This song isn't actually reference to the Biblical myth (or maybe it is partially), but actually the Greek myth of Jason and the Golden Fleece, which is perhaps the greatest Hero story of all Greek mythology. You can tell these because of the reference to the Argon, because the heroes who went on the quest for the Golden Fleece were called the Argonauts. Albeit I don't know much about the Biblical myth -- it could have referenced the Greek myth (a lot of Christianity and Greek stories cross over) but I know for sure because of the Argon reference that this is inspired by the Greek myth, probably just a song about how he was a great hero.

I think the electronica is wonderful. It feels "outside" the "Sufjan genre" in a lot of ways, but it's still unique. Kinda like "Winner Needs a Wand" in that way, I think.

As we all know, Sufjan uses A. Biblical B. Mythological and C. Historical references in his lyrics. Sometimes he talks from his point of view, sometimes from a womans, a little boys, an old mans, a dead persons. etc. He sort of conglomerates these references with his personal experiences. Unless he says "This song is about me" we can never know. To me, this is a song about appreciation, maybe romance gone wrong, and as always nostalgia.

well i think we can safely say that electronica is no longer "outside the Sufjan genre" although he's been writing electronica since Enjoy Your Rabbit great track, this man has a way with words.
