I think this song is actually about trying to forget past memories that just kill you on the inside and you can't find a way to shake them.
Totally about trying to cope with fucked up memories and the suffering you've been through. Repressing the memories and killing yourself over the past will only prove you're the weaker one, that you're a slave to that which tries to bury you.
It's amazing how many AWS songs relate to the concept of someone (or something) burying you under its weight. It makes you wonder how much the guys have all suffered... and how amazing they are for having dealt with it.
This is coming from someone who has had to wade through a lot of shit. It's hard, but it's all about keeping it together. Otherwise, you're just proving to the world you're no more good than those who drag you down.
