Fluffy, furry buddy
Chewed his leg on the porch
Why'd you do it Fluffy, on the porch?
Good dog Fluffy, old friend my pal
Fluffy's got his buddy on the porch
Penny, she's my girlie, she sits here with me on the porch
Penny looks so pretty on the porch
Penny takes Fluffy for a walk out on the path
Fluffy chases the other doggies on the path
The pig says to Penny, get Fluffy back on the porch
So me and Fluffy and Penny were on the porch
Chewed his leg on the porch
Why'd you do it Fluffy, on the porch?
Fluffy's got his buddy on the porch
Penny, she's my girlie, she sits here with me on the porch
Penny looks so pretty on the porch
Fluffy chases the other doggies on the path
The pig says to Penny, get Fluffy back on the porch
So me and Fluffy and Penny were on the porch

I always thought the "But big sister penny" line was actually, "The pig says to Penny, get Fluffy back on the porch".
Which would mean some cop told them not to let Fluffy chase the other doggies, so they're all sitting on the porch feeling annoyed. That's the way I always read it.
I'm pretty sure you're right, mizchiff.
To make a good country album you have to have a sad song about a dog, so they made this one about how they loved their dog but the cops made them stay on the porch.
The tone of this song would lead you to think that something tragic was going to happen to Fluffy at the end, but they just end up on the porch.
I'd forgotten just how brown the country can be.
Memories of an old lost canine friend?
I always thought that "chewed his leg" was a euphemism for defecating. Like, "Why'd you take a shit on the porch?"
