Numb numb and fearful friend
Can you hear me crying calling out your name
It's easy to apportion bucketloads of blame
When you're distant
When you're invisible of blame cos you're here
Blame cos you're here
Would've never thought that I'd be your defendant
I would be a criminal investigation
Needing to believe that faith could make a difference
Need to forget my name when you're here
I hope this pays you off.
Can you hear me crying calling out your name
It's easy to apportion bucketloads of blame
When you're distant
When you're invisible of blame cos you're here
Blame cos you're here
Would've never thought that I'd be your defendant

Need to forget my name when you're here
I hope this pays you off.

A junkie will often hate the drug that they are addicted to when they can't get any and treat it like God when they have some. They feel the same about their dealers. They hate them when the dealer can't help them with a free fix and love them when they deliver. This interpretation doesn't feel exactly right to me but maybe it's a start. Funny how this is right before You Can't Keep a Bad Man Down. See my interpretation of that.
