London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines Lyrics

[verse 1]
Stop stalling. Make a name for yourself.
Boy you better put that pen to paper, charm your way out.
If you talk you better walk you better back your shit up
with more than good hooks. While you’re all under the gun

Start talking. “A sensationalist”
Oh he’s slightly clever to just a certain extent.
If you talk you better walk you better keep your mouth shut
with more than good hooks, while you’re all under the gun.

(Panic: meet the press)
It’s time for us to take a chance,
It’s time for us to take a chance.
(Panic: meet the press)
It’s time for us to take a chance,
It’s ti-i-me for u-us...

[chorus]
Well we’re just a wet dream for the webzines
Make us ‘it’ make us ‘hip’ make us ‘scene’
Or. Shrug us off your shoulders.
Don’t approve a single word that we wrote.

Well we’re just a wet dream for the webzines
Make us ‘it’ make us ‘hip’ make us ‘scene’
Or. Shrug us off your shoulders,
Don’t approve a single word that we wrote.

[verse 2]
I’m burning and I’m blacking my lungs
Boy you know it feels good with fire back on your tongue
If you talk you better walk you better back your shit up
With more than good hooks, while you’re all under the gun.

Start talking, “A sensationalist”
Oh he’s slightly clever to just a certain extent.
Whoa, Keep Quiet! Let us sing like the doves,
Then decide if it’s done with a purpose or lack thereof.

OH and, just for the record,
The weather today is
Slightly sarcastic with a good chance of
A. Indifference or
B. Disinterest in what the critics say

It’s time for us to take a chance,
It’s ti-i-me for u-us...

Well we’re just a wet dream for the webzines
Make us ‘it’ make us ‘hip’ make us ‘scene’
Or. Shrug us off your shoulders.
Don’t approve a single word we wrote.

Well we’re just a wet dream for the webzines
Make us ‘it’ make us ‘hip’ make us ‘scene’
Or. Shrug us off your shoulders.
Don’t approve a single word that we wrote.

(booming, crashing noises and vocalization)

Ladadadadadada, Ladadada, Whoa whoa. ladadadadada ladadada

Just for the record,
The weather today is
Slightly sarcastic with a good chance of
A. Indifference or
B. Disinterest in what the critics say

Well we’re just a wet dream for the webzines
Make us ‘it’ make us ‘hip’ make us ‘scene’

yeah, they can predict the future, all right.

"Well we're just a wet dream for the webzines, Make us it, make us hip, make us scene Or shrug us off your shoulders Don't approve a single word that we wrote"

clearly a reference to the SCENE. and a mockery. oh p! at the disco! you became the scene, and the scene kids are too dumb to realise you're making fun of them!

My fave line...i scream it xP

I'm kind of wondering if it has to do with the fact that some of the members' parents highly disapproved of them getting involved with music instead of making their lives all about schooling and careers based moreso on intellect. 'It's time for us to take a chance' makes me think about them taking a step out from under their parents' wing and trying something and taking a risk, solely upon themselves. The rest point to the fact that they're making music because they want to and the haters and critics can just stop because they really don't need to hear it. P!ATD is so amazing...

"Make us it make us hip make us scene Or. Shrug us off your shoulders. Don't approve a single word we wrote."

"Keep Quiet! Let us sing like the doves Then decide if it's done with purpose or lack thereof."

Maybe saying that they have to be exactly what the record company wants them to be, because if not their just an unsigned group?

Amazing song. Kind of like FOB's "Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name..." to me, but not so much about the fans. Maybe it's about making it as a band. They say "make a name for yourself" and about not caring about what critics say. Not too sure about the wet dreams webzines part. Have a couple ideas but would like to hear what other people think.

I think they got the Wet Dreams verse from fall out boy.

well pete was incredibly involved in the process of make this album, and he writes a majority of FOB's lyrics, so I wouldn't be surprised if P!ATD got a line or two from him...it happens with lots of bands (Taking Back Sunday most notably)

More Chuck P. references.

In his book, "Diary", one of Chuck's conceits is "Just for the record, the weather today is...." followed by some kind of emotion. Good book, good song.
