Stand And Feel Your Worth Lyrics

Wake, stand and feel your worth, o my soul
Kneel and know the word that can save us all
Come to die

We are fuel and fire both, we are water
wed with wine and ghost

We are wrought with breath and dirt, washed in second sight
Woven through the earth, wreathed in rings of light
We will wield a second birth, whet our wits and knives
Wrap our knees in earth, wrap ourselves in light

Wake, we will weigh and drink this cup, we will burn
But we will not burn up

Wake, feel your worth, o my soul
speak the word, the word that can save us all
Awed by grace, I fall on my face
And scream the word that can save us all

The word that can save our soul or damn us to hell, the word that was before the world began, the word that came to earth as a man, the word by which all men will bow regardless of whether they believe, is JESUS.

Such a powerful song. Stand and feel your worth = feel the power and the pride you have knowing your soul is saved by faith in Jesus. Many of Thrice's songs are purposely vague, allowing for different meanings to different people. But much as Hold Fast Hope tells of the prophet Jonah, the Messenger tells of the prophet Isaiah, and Words in the Water tells of the two covenants of God - this song can't have multiple meanings.

Wield a second birth = a soul born again via salvation in Jesus Christ. Wrap our knees in earth, wrap ourselves in light = We will die and be buried in the earth, but because of the "word" (Jesus) - he has bridged the gap between man and God (light - God is referenced as a blinding light) Powerful, powerful lyrics. We will burn, but not burn up. The burn comes from within, as we burn for the "word" to do his will on earth. When we die we will not burn, as in the fires of hell, because by God's grace (awed by grace) he has given us the opportunity of a lifetime to simply humble ourselves and declare by spoken word Jesus is Lord (fall on my face and scream the word that can save us all) Wed with wine and ghost = when Jesus left earth to enter back in Heaven, he left the Holy Ghost to continue his work. As the Holy Ghost lives within followers of Christ (not "Christians", which is a general term that has lost the power of its meaning - everyone says they're Christian nowadays), the Holy Ghost is the deposit left to us by God - guaranteeing our entrance in Heaven.

The Word=Jesus

In the begining was The Word and The Word was with God and The Word was God John 1:1

This is probably my favorite song on Vheissu, Dustin absolutely destroys it at the end of this song and it's amazing.

This song is about knowing the power of faith/salvation. There are several Biblical allusions ("wrought with breath and dirt" - God made Adam of earth and breathed life into him; "second birth" - Christ said "you must be born again").

Wrapping one's knees in earth = kneeling, perhaps in prayer (by which one will be wrapped "in light" by the presence of God).

As to what "the word" itself is: it is most likely connected directly with salvation from a Christian standpoint. "Lord" and "Jesus" are good possibilities.

This is without a doubt speaking about rising up and being a part of the great plan God has for us. I say the word is probably Jesus. But there is no way that it is not about God, i.e. "Awed by grace, I fall on my face", if thats not biblical jargon and christian idealogy I don't know what is

This is a sweet song and one that I believe is overlooked on Vheissu. Regardless of religious affiliation this song promotes a fantastic message to anyone who hears it. "Stand and Feel your Worth, oh my soul, kneel and know the word...". Awesome! However if one has to argue a clean cut meaning behind the lyrics, I would have to agree with Tossed Dwarf (nice work on the actual Vheissu review man, I read it on the boards..I'd give it 10/10 as well (and Red Sky=12/10)).

An interesting little tidbit Dustin wrote in the Vheissu S.E. booklet:

"The idea of 'the word that can save us all,' was something that I had been toying with for a while, and was originally inspired by the end of the film 'The NeverEnding Story.'

I have one more biblical reference to add to Tossed Dwarf's (Gimli) list. "We will burn but we will not burn up" This is like the fire that burns but does not consume. The one that speaks to. So it means something like to be in the presence of God.
