Zozobra Lyrics
deserts in your eyes
a sea of sands and midnite stars
losing touch, I become the sky
there is our last kiss.....
now push on
proceed to oblivion
submerged in fluid
suspended in thought
I reach the crest of the tallest peak
I can see for miles
breathe deep
breathe deep, engine sounds drowning me
drones and hums fill my bones, open eyes wide
breathe deep, static lights blinding eyes
descent into signals, heart dies
breathe deep, lulled by clicks and cycles
held high from fires, a last breath
sleep deeper, forget all that is known
submit to the sun, regress to life
a sea of sands and midnite stars
losing touch, I become the sky
there is our last kiss.....
now push on
proceed to oblivion
suspended in thought
I reach the crest of the tallest peak
I can see for miles
breathe deep
drones and hums fill my bones, open eyes wide
descent into signals, heart dies
held high from fires, a last breath
submit to the sun, regress to life

Although I can't fully grasp most of their lyrics, I think most of OMG's lyrics revolve around regressing into our primordial state as humans. As a result, many of their lyrics take a very naturalistic point of view. I think this song describes this regression of homosapiens (which, from their point of view is a progression.) However, one may infer from the lyrics that this "progression" is somehow instigated by aliens from outer space with the lines "static lights blinding eyes", "lulled by clicks and cycles", and "drones and hums fill my bones". I know I've read interviews by members of OMG and they have basically said the band is a big joke, but I think that is the general theme behind their lyrics.
Zozobra is actually a ritual kind of thing in Santa Fe, New Mexico where a giant effigy made of all sorts of crap is burned... His name Zozobra I think actually translates to "the gloomy one". The burning represents burning all the bad luck, hardships, and difficulties from the past year.
probably nothing to do with the meaning of the song, but an interesting tidbit nonetheless :)
Are you referring to the Burning Man Arts Festival?
Sounds like it.
I want to see more lyrics from these guys from the Christmas album they released.
