I Got The News Lyrics
You
In your Lark
You're a mark
You're a screamer
You know
How to hustle
Daddy
Is a rare
Millionaire
I don't care
Yeah you
Got the muscle
I got the news
Yes dear
How did you know
Can't you see our love will grow
Take it
In your hand
All the sirens
And the band
Get to bendin' my ear
How
Was I to know
About the warm
Soulful secret
You been keepin' for years
I got the news
Slow down I'll tell you when
I may never walk again
Broadway Duchess
Darling if you only knew
Half as much as
Everybody thinks you do
What I hear
May be true
I would still be proud
To know you
Spanish kissin'
See it glisten
You came ragin'
Love rampagin'
I got the news
Yes dear
How did you know
Can't you see our love will grow
In your Lark
You're a mark
You're a screamer
You know
How to hustle
Daddy
Is a rare
Millionaire
I don't care
Yeah you
Got the muscle
I got the news
How did you know
Can't you see our love will grow
In your hand
All the sirens
And the band
Get to bendin' my ear
How

About the warm
Soulful secret
You been keepin' for years
I got the news
I may never walk again
Darling if you only knew
Half as much as

Has cunnilingus ever been so beautifully described?
Spanish kissin' See it glisten You came ragin' Love rampagin'
yeah but this fling is song filler for the deeper meaning... He's Got the News like as in I Knows whats up, the way things are. Like A Prophet. And you dont care about much else, except for an occasional great time... did i say occasional. nightly might be more appropriate. The title of the song is the message, like listen here. EXTRA EXTRA Im the shit. sounds arrogant but trust me on this one. also references his knowledge as a super highway in Home At Last and he's the chosen one to know what he knows. He talks about the band gets to bendin his ear like as in when he hears other artists talking to him...
Here is a good interpretation: She is generally involved in mischief/capers, she is a mark which is a target of criticism because of who she is and the poor way she acts. Yes she knows how to play the game(hustle), daddy is rich and so she can get away with her mischief cause daddy helps, but he('I') got the news: He knows what she really is. How did you know means 'how did you know we could be an item'. Slow down I'll tell you when means he wants to initiate sex and less often than she, I may never walk again is a reference to his 'soreness' from sex, Broadway Dutchess means she is an emotionally volatile actress type personality. Half as much and etc. means she is delusional about herself, what he hears about her being a mentally sick woman may be true, but he would want to know her anyway. And yes, Spanish kissing is cunnilingus.
Oh, oh, oh...is there any doubt about what her warm, soulful secret it now?
I think not. :-P
Wait, did the guy singing try to go out with a lesbian?
Example: She says "Slow down, I'll tell you when" in response to him getting worked up, & when he finds out what she's been hiding: "...I may never walk again"
Three-way relationship like many SD songs.
"Daddy" is rich but she can do what she wants and get away with it.
They've known each other for a long time but he never knew she had a thing for him. Next thing you know they fall madly into bed together.
"Slow down, I'll tell you when..." - She's on top and perhaps with a little too much "travel" for him; he's afraid she's gonna break it right off.
The Broadway duchess lines I guess he doesn't think she's so smart, a typical slam - great sex, no brains.
"I would still be proud to know you" - note he says "know", sounds like he's distancing himself from her, this was a one time fling. "Proud" as in "yeah, I did her and WOW"
A 2009 three-way. Cute. I believe the song is about someone who doesn't care how bad someone looks and how broken she is because he (or she) has never had plans to be there...or he did have plans but could never muster the courage and never will. So one shall stick to his/her life of fun and multiple relationships while the other will fade in time. Sometimes it's best to call it a night, so to speak.

the guitar solo is killer.
the glisten part is about foreplay and making a girl wet.
but there's a lot in there that nobody will ever know.

youre right about the guitar solo. There are so many.i met, have photos with me and Roger Nichols ,grew up near Walter and have been with them from the beginning.,and seen them live in early 70´s and way beyond.Walter´s death has crippled me as i am typing this at 64 4:30 in the morning.i have searched everywhere to find anything like those two and i do no think i will see it in my lifetime. If there is such a thing as a true Fan it is I..Please listen carefully many many times with headphones to CIRCUS MONEY. I am...

I am not sure but i think the guitar sols were both Larry Carlton and Walter or larry played Walters written parts.
One of the best instrumental breaks in rock 'n roll preceding the lyrics: "Broadway Duchess, Darling if you only knew..." The essence of SD.
"Spanish kissin' " is apparently slang for fellatio, which I didn't know before, so that line in the song is basically referring to someone's saliva-coated knob.
Which, though I am a SD fan, I don't need a mental image of Donald's saliva-coated knob, thanks anyway.
