Dry Drunk Emperor Lyrics

baby boy
dieing under hot desert sun,
watch your colours run.

did you believe the lie they told you,
that christ would lead the way
and in a matter of days
hand us victory?

did you buy the bull they sold you,
that the bullets and the bombs
and all the strong arms
would bring home security?

all eyes upon
dry drunk emperor
gold cross cross jock skull and bones
mocking smile,
he's been
standing naked for a while!
get him gone, get him gone, get him gone!!
and bring all the thieves to trial.

end their promise
end their dream
watch it turn to steam
rising to the nose of some cross legged god
gog of magog
end times sort of thing.
oh unmentionable disgrace
shield the childrens faces
as all the monied apes
display unimaginably poor taste
in a scramble for mastery.

atta' boy get em with your gun
till mr. mega ton
tells us when we've won
or
what we're gonna leave undone.

all eyes upon
dry drunk emperor
gold cross jock skull and bones
mocking smile,
he's been
naked for a while.
get him gone, get him gone, get him gone!!!
and bring all his thieves to trial.

what if all the fathers and the sons
went marching with their guns
drawn on washington.
that would seal the deal,
show if it was real,
this supposed freedom.

what if all the bleeding hearts
took it on themselves
to make a brand new start.
organs pumpin on their sleeves,
paint murals on the white house
feed the leaders L.S.D
grab your fife and drum,
grab yor gold baton
and let's meet on the lawn,
shut down this hypocrisy.

this song is about a dry drunk emperor, who is feeling the consequences of going against his people and using his power in the wrong way.

dry=infertile drunk=incompetent

"Dry drunk" equals George W. Bush, a recovering alcoholic.

Love this. Awesome call-to-arms song.

the band stated that they wrote this song in response to Hurricane Katrina, they said:

"we ( tvotr ) were back in the studio thinking and feeling again and made this song for all our everybody... in the absence of a true leader we must not forget that we are still together.... hearts are sick ... minds must change ... it is our hope that this song inspires, comforts, fosters courage, and reminds us... this darkness cannot last if we work together. let us help each other... heal each other .... look after one another ... the human heart is our new capitol.... this song is for you.... us.....we....them... it is free. pass it on.

TO THOSE AFFECTED BY HURRICANE KATRINA : NEW YORK CITY'S HEART IS WITH YOU... STAY STRONG ! WE LOVE YOU. -tvotr"

the beauty of this song makes me cry.... anyway, is there some parts missing in these lyrics?

It's not just about our current president. it's about leaders of all levels.

I love the Bob Dylan allusion: "he's been standing naked for a while!"

While preachers preach of evil fates Teachers teach that knowledge waits Can lead to hundred-dollar plates Goodness hides behind its gates But even the president of the United States Sometimes must have To stand naked. From It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)

firstly, it is about bush and not other leaders, the lyrics are specific about that and secondly the "he's been standing naked for a while" alludes to the "emperor has no clothes" rather than dylan. stunning lyrics and how refreshing to not have the message wrapped up in metaphors - so blatant!

its clearly about bush. im suresome of this could be applied to katrina but i think most of it is specific to iraq. the first two lines seem to refer to the loss of life/innocence in iraq with the image of a baby dying ("under the desert sun").

did you believe the lie they told you, that christ would lead the way and in a matter of days hand us victory?

these lyrics definitely describe bush's attitude going into iraq and how his religous radicalism aided his decision.

atta' boy get em with your gun till mr. mega ton tells us when we've won or what we're gonna leave undone.

here they adress how at this point even if we leave iraq we're just going to be leaving a country we've torn to pieces and ignited civil war upon.

im sure i've offended people with my interpretation. its just what i think.

I am just listening to this song now for the first time. It is another great song by this amazing band. The lyrics are obviously talking about George W. Bush. It could easily be refrenced to other leaders but the White House and 'dry drunk emperor' pretty much seal the deal. Don't believe everything you're told. Demand a change! I recommend Mike Gravel for President.
