How You See the World No. 2 Lyrics
They put the world in a tin can,
Black market, contraband,
And it hurt just a little bit, when they sliced and packaged it.
In a long black trench coat,
Two hands around the throat,
Ooh you want to get it right sometimes
There's so much to be scared of,
And not much to make sense of,
How did the clowns ever get control?
If your hear can you let me know,
How can they invade it, when it's so complicated?
Ooh you just want to get it right sometimes
You just want to get it right sometimes
That's how you see the world,
How many times can you say, you can't believe what you learn,
That's how you see the world, don't you worry yourself,
You're not gonna give up.
And there's something missing, seems like there's nobody listening,
If you're running in a circle, how can you be too careful?
We don't wanna be man trapped, we don't wanna be shrink wrapped
Ooh, we just want to get it right sometimes,
Just want to get it right sometimes,
That's how you see the world,
How many times have you heard, but you can't believe a word,
That's how you see the world, but don't you worry yourself,
'Cause nobody can hurt you
That's how you see the world
That's how you see the world
Black market, contraband,
And it hurt just a little bit, when they sliced and packaged it.
In a long black trench coat,
Two hands around the throat,
Ooh you want to get it right sometimes
And not much to make sense of,
How did the clowns ever get control?
If your hear can you let me know,
How can they invade it, when it's so complicated?
Ooh you just want to get it right sometimes
You just want to get it right sometimes
How many times can you say, you can't believe what you learn,
That's how you see the world, don't you worry yourself,
You're not gonna give up.
If you're running in a circle, how can you be too careful?
We don't wanna be man trapped, we don't wanna be shrink wrapped
Ooh, we just want to get it right sometimes,
Just want to get it right sometimes,
How many times have you heard, but you can't believe a word,
That's how you see the world, but don't you worry yourself,
'Cause nobody can hurt you
That's how you see the world

That song is different from the first version (lyrics and musical arrangements). It was recorded on September 8th, 2005 for an album called "Help: A Day In The Life". That day, Coldplay was one of 20 british bands to help raise money for young people struggling in war-inflicted countries (other artists included Kean, Radiohead, Damien Rice, Bloc Party, Gorillaz and Kaiser Chiefs, to name a few). The album was made available online 36 hours later.
And of course, the new lyrics are very appropriate. Such a profound, universal song!
i love this song. on iTunes i removed Low from X&Y and replaced it with this song.
I don't know where to find the original version of this song. I bought the cd "Help: A Day in the Life" just because I saw there was a coldplay song I hadn't recognized on it.
Anyone know where I can get the original version?
It is about how the elite control our world, despite its chaos, madness, and spontaneity. In my opinion, it is quite accusatory. These men and women "sliced" up the world and "packaged" it. However, that wasn't the most painful part. It asks for freedom of expression while simultaneously acknowledging that seeking after it is useless.
I really love this song...
I haven't heard this version. Interesting...
This song is definitely one of my b-side favorites.
It came with the Japanese release of X&Y as a bonus track; this one comes with "Help" and is also the b-side to The Hardest Part and What If as a live version at Earls Court.
Anyway, I love this song. So much more political than anything they've done before.
