The best song on the album, IMO. I love this track
This song is incredible. I guess he's saying that he knows how talented he is and he needs only himself to reassure him of that.("I'ma look in the mirror if I need some help") No one can bring him down because he knows not everyone will like his music.("there'll always be hatas that's the way it is") I love it! Definitly a great song off of an even greater album.
I don't think that this song means that he's totally self-centered as eatamuffin stated. I believe that Kanye is saying that nobody was ever there for him when he went through his life-threatening situation. "It's funny how these wack niggas need my help, Walkin' around when I couldn't feed myself". Also if you listen to his College Dropout album, the very last track, he basically puts his life on the track, explaining how no one would ever give him a chance to become a rapper/producer. They wouldn't sign him as a rapper, but just wanted him for his beats. Now that Kanye has blown up and is becoming a Hall Of Famer, everyone is trying to get with him, and he ain't having that. Basically, he's throwing all the fake people out from his sight, and concentrating on the real of it all.
I agree with cgil, and the last track on the dropout has some of the sickest lyrics 'ye ever wrote. I like the cameo from JayZ in it too. Everyone who hasn't heard it should check it out. "I'd like to propose a toast. I said toast mothafuckas!"
