Proud Lyrics

I look into the window of my mind
Reflections of the fears I know I've left behind
I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
Still so many answers I don't know
Realise that to question is how we grow
So I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
We need a change
Do it today
I can feel my spirit rising
We need a change
So do it today
'Cause I can see a clear horizon
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
'Cause you could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
What have you done today
You could be so many people?
Just make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?

The reason why people think of this as a "Gay Pride Song" is because it was Brian and Michael's song on the TV show Queer As Folk. Anyone that loves that show will automatically group it in with that show and Gay Pride. I am not gay myself, but I love the show and I love the song. The song played during the first and last show of the series.

That's all.

An amazing song. One of my favorites.

I love this song. Ever since I saw it on "Queer As Folk." Well, I guess I heard it.

Anyways, great gay-pride song, but also a great just overall empowerment song.

RIP to Jane Tomlinson who passed away today after a 7 year battle with cancer.

You were an amazing woman Jane, you inspired so many to push themselves, to strive for the "impossible"...

You'll be sorely missed in so many circles, i can only say that i'm sorry i never had the honour of meeting you in person.

I love this song since it's the theme song of the Biggest Loser and makes me think of that show, and I think it fit the show really well.

I've never really paid attention to this song until recently.

My life wasn't going so swell. I was down in the dumps. I heard this song, and the message I got was that "you could be so many people" as in you can achieve anything, you can be anyone you want to be. But to do that you need to do something and it's never too late. It certainly inspired me, ever since that day I have focused to do at least 1 thing every I can look back on and say I was proud of myself for doing that today. Sometimes it's only a small victory, but it all helps.

Gay pride song? I don't see it. Not sure why this is considered a gay pride song. No lyrics in it that point it out.

I think it's a song about life and how everyone grows. We are all born into a world in which most cases we're bombarded with politics, religious doctrine, etc.

At some point in everyone's life, they start questioning ("Realize that to question is how we grow") what they were brought up to believe and begin a search for truth because they're no longer satisfied with the old ways ("Reflections of the fears I know I've left behind"). They might even end up challenging the majority and what it believes ("I step out of the ordinary/ I can feel my soul ascending").

To me, that's what the song is about. It's more spiritual than it is gay pride I think. That's how I related to it.

One more thing. Lets remove the gay pride meaning from the song. We don't want to turn it negative.

you are an asshole, there's nothing negative about gay pride, and if you knew anything about Heather Small, you'd know she is a gay advocate.
