Weary Saints Lyrics

For years we thought the night,
would pale in ghostly flames.
But some still dream of life,
say the sun will rise again.
We'll kill our need for arms,
a cool and measured crime.
And learn to grift and palm,
from our hearts and from our minds.
Let us not be faithless,
for you will meet our needs.
Thy good and gracious word is,
a lamp unto our feet.

For years we closed our eyes,
while rust on reason grows.
And we feed and clothe our lives,
within our hearts we know,
that wisdom lends us all,
a cool and steadied hand.
The steel pressed to my palm,
doesn't make me more a man.
And courage father give us,
to do what must be done.
To deal out truth and justice,
with swift and sober guns.

For years you met our thirst,
still deserts we have roamed.
We'll be done with dust and dirt,
when the ocean calls us home.
And we'll fall into the arms,
of a cool and sweet and embrace,
and under stars and waving palms,
we'll shed our skin like snakes.
And time will cease to stalk us,
and death will be undone.
We'll shine with the light of,
a thousand blazing suns.

This song is about the Christian God & Armageddon.

Hmm...I'm pretty sure the first verse goes:

For years we've fought the night With pale and ghostly flames But some still dream of light Say the sun will rise again (and then so on...)

And overall, like the title suggest, I think the song is just about the life of a believer, and even though it's filled with hardships and struggle, we have peace in knowing that one day we'll be before our Creator and we'll be without sin.

The last verse reminded me of Mosed and the Israelites wandering in the desert. I think Dustin is drawing a parallel between the Israelites constantly having their needs met by God, yet being disobedient to Him, and us as Christians going through the same process of obedience and disobedience.

Good stuff though. I can't wait for an Ursus Veritas ep or even full length.

Wow. All those comments were posted a long time again. I am a huge fan. I preordered his Cd on his website and couln't wait so i bought it on itunes. It sounds really really good. Anyway

It sounds more like remembering faith. Even saints who believe, still face question. And even when we question. God will still be their for us. At least thats what i got out of it.
