Ahh, the great lost Therapy? song. If you can get your hands on this, do so, it's great.

Anyway, it's about giving up on someone who's not good enough for you.

or its about a friend/family member who has drink/drug problems, keeps letting you down, and you have had enough. which i suppose is similar to what you said....
