Concrete Bed Lyrics

the world's locked up in your head
you've been pouring it a concrete bed
your habits ossify
you don't realize you're fried

to find someone you love
you've gotta be someone you love

the reason's somewhere in the din
bit it takes years til it sinks in
you've used up the easy streets
and you lost your taste for treats
you're so fried

stay high if you have to
do whatever it asks you
you've got another calling
don't let it pass you
you know it coz you wrote it
you just didn't think
you'd actually do it
its just another wish you wished
in a very long list

to find someone to love
you've gotta call your own bluff

"To find someone you love, you've gotta be someone you love" amazing lyric. simple but it is SO true. if you're not comfortable with yourself then you can never be comfortable around others, and so you can and will never find someone to love. nada surf sing my soul's wishes with the utmost accuracy

more than believing in yourself, it means you will attract people that are like you. when you act like someone different, trying to be something that's not genuinely you, you will only meet that same kind of people.

stick to that which you believe in and you will find someone like you will eventually.

This song is about someone, possibly Brandon himself, who is getting older and more set in their ways, perhaps going about the same habits over and over, and they have lost sight of the fact that they are a good person. They don't love themselves anymore and are thus lonely. He says that we should just live with passion even if that means getting high--that we shouldn't do what we are told we "should" do, at the expense of living our own life and doing what feels right.
