more than believing in yourself, it means you will attract people that are like you. when you act like someone different, trying to be something that's not genuinely you, you will only meet that same kind of people.
stick to that which you believe in and you will find someone like you will eventually.
This song is about someone, possibly Brandon himself, who is getting older and more set in their ways, perhaps going about the same habits over and over, and they have lost sight of the fact that they are a good person. They don't love themselves anymore and are thus lonely.
