this song is very much about a realationship that he obviously was very hurt in and know he can't trust anyone. Whenever I hear this song, it reminds me of my own experiences being bullied throughout my school years.

It's in the perspective of the person being bullied, the person who never did anything to deserve the abusive treatment they're recieving. He's talking to the person who's hurting him, the person who will never see the situation from his point of view.
I like to refer to this song as my own "image song"; I think it describes my own feelings quite well.
My guess goes like this: Its about a girl he really liked, and still does, but he let her down somehow and now she really hates him. He know he let her down, so he cant blame her, "Please forgive me for not being good enough".
