Am I gonna be all right?
No I'm not gonna be all right
Nothing is all right now
Am I gonna see the sun come up?
Or am I going down?
'Cause every day I'm here
All I feel is sheer
Agony
Friends tellin' me that maybe I need
Some psychiatric help
Yeah they're always so quick to tell you
Just how to get on with it
But I look into the mirror
And all A see is age, fear
And agony
If I could just remember what it was like
When I was younger
Before all the joy and happiness
Was replaced with hunger
Now all I've got to show for the seeds that didn't grow
Is agony
No I'm not gonna be all right
Nothing is all right now
Am I gonna see the sun come up?
Or am I going down?
'Cause every day I'm here
All I feel is sheer
Agony
Some psychiatric help
Yeah they're always so quick to tell you
Just how to get on with it
But I look into the mirror
And all A see is age, fear
And agony
When I was younger
Before all the joy and happiness
Was replaced with hunger
Now all I've got to show for the seeds that didn't grow
Is agony

WHAT can i say? except, Pure genius gotta love it
This song is about not fulfilling your dreams. A person who made many plans when he/she was younger and the plans made them happy but before they knew it time caught up with them and they find that really they acheived nothing and its left them feeling empty.
i think big tk's pretty much got it right there. amazing song. sums up how great eels are.
It's not just about the lyrics, that song is powerful, you can hear the guitar crying all that agony.
I think it's about being at the bottom of the barrel, so to speak, whether it's related to love, or his life....ie, there is only one way up and is he going to get there..
In my opinion, I think it's a deep depression.
