Fuckin' ellllllll...This song is just so fucking beautiful, although quite tragic.
I get the feeling someone close to him has died, and he still feels he loves this person, but because theyre no longer alive, he can't be, so he's "fooling himself"

This is a really amazing song, particularly the first bit when the singing comes in. It is so melancholy and full of emotion, i saw InMe live and they were soo good. This is probably my favourite song of theirs.
Probably my favourite InMe song, so absolutely fucking moving..I love it. Yes beni I agree with you in that this song is tonally very tragic - he could either have lost a girl physically or just broken up a relationship..or maybe the relationship's in a bad place and he feels he is on the way to losing her. So beautiful. Hope to see more comments on such a perfect song.
Part of it makes me think he's a rubbish boyfriend ("i'm never there for you") and can't understand why she stays with him (".. why I am lying here with you every night?").
The second bit makes me thing that she finally leaves or whatever, but he still does love her. So its sorta "I was a never there for you, but I'm still sad you're gone.".
i agree with cmj. I think he feels he's never there for his girlfriend and doesnt feel like hes good enoughf or her so hes wonderign why she still loves him.
I think that it's the woman who's accusing the protagonist of the story of being there for her; but he tells her he's lying with her every night. And he gets sick of all the demands she makes and leaves, but still thinks of being with her.
