in this song he's talking about his relationship that's just ended. she left him but he still likes her even though he knows that it was never a good relationship anyways, but still he needs time to get over it "without anybody else" he almost wishes that he could go back in time before the relationship even started. he wishes he could've fixed all these things. that maybe they could've made it.. if only

In response to '311-311-311' that is impossible because the Wedding Singer was made in 1998 whereas this song was created only a few years ago. This song is incredibly catchy (along with all of theirs mind you), even if you've heard it 45674097 times :D
