Nightmare Lyrics

You painted offense while you plead a defense
You took advantage of average
You pleased those deceived but couldn't turn me
My god wouldn't use his leverage

If faith had an 800 number
I'd disconnect myself
- Self, self!
If I had to be a member
I'd rather be left out

You fell for those lies while they took your mind
Your eyes were closed from the inside
Your heart was so full of infomercial
You couldn't hear the blind talking

If faith had an 800 number
I'd disconnect myself
- Self, self!
If I had to be a member
I'd rather be left out

Stay away!
'way from me!

- Stay away!

If faith had an 800 number
I'd disconnect myself
- Self, self!
If I had to be a member
I'd rather be left out

i have to say that the chorus of this song is possibly the stupidest thing i've ever heard, even though i like Taproot. as for the meaning, it seems like yet another song about how religion is brainwashing the nation and so on and so on

I disagree with salsashark re: the chorus, and the song is more specifically about televangelists, and how they pervert religion into a money-making venture. He beleives in God, but not this empty commercialism. If required to feed into this bullshit in order to have faith, he'd "disconnect himself", as he'd "rather be left out".

touche. that could very well be true, which would unvalidate the second half of my comment, however, the chorus still sounds like one of the stupidest things i've ever heard. just the lyrics themselves are awful

Agreed, the music in the song is good, but the awful lyrics really ruin it.
